A lot of the people in UK who run takeaways are from Hong Kong which was a British territory so that may have something to do with why it's so good here

To be honest, I'm really surprised you only have 18,000 subs. I've been around since "Oxford", and I find your channel one of the most amenable, intelligent and entertaining US "vlog" type channels. It's unusual and gratifying to find American UK reactors who have a genuine interest beyond the superficial "snapshot" level of our culture and history. It never occurred to me to look at your subs number, but I guess I assumed it was around the 100,000 mark. Best wishes.

I had crispy duck in a reasonably high-end chinese restaurant. They brought out the half duck and the accoutrements, the waitress used chopsticks to shred the duck and rolled the first pancake for us using the chopsticks.

The difference between Lo Mein and Chow Mein is that Chow Mein uses fried noodles, hence why you noticed the 'dryness' in UK Chow Mein!

Nothing beats a good Chinese takeaway. I would eat one everyday of the week if I could afford it. I was shouting "please eat it" when he was saying to eat the duck

The main differences are in the noodles' texture and the amount of sauce. Lo mein translates to "tossed noodles" and features soft noodles coated in a rich, savory sauce. Chow mein translates to "fried noodles" and uses crispy, stir-fried noodles with a lighter, minimal amount of sauce

"Chinese Food" is like "European Food" - an umbrella term for culturally diverse cuisines. Chinese cooks in Britain are mainly (but not exclusively) from Canton / Hong Kong. Also, they adapt their recipes for local customers, which is why they make chips and curry.
