This new PEN at this price will be a hit 🎯🎯

OM System has a real hit on their hands. As soon as I saw the specs, I preordered the body immediately.

I've been waiting for something like this. I'm more of a still shooter than video shooter. I've looked at other cameras similar to this but no e has a view finder.

Refreshing for a while to hear, that 8bit video is just fine if one makes content for socials etc. Many viewers have stated, that OM Pen is "naaahhh, not for vloggers...". It definitely is, with it's flip screen, auto portrait mode, weather sealing, possibility to shoot in whatever picture mode one likes. I've made a lot of comparisons with 8bit vs. 10bit with my OM-3, and there practically is no difference in normal situations. The 10bit advance comes, when doing serious color grading. 8bit by OM System is easy and results are great - just "color grade" in camera. I did order the OM Pen to be a  light and more portable companion to my OM-3 - which is still my number one for heavier lenses and more demanding tasks like birds in fly etc.

It's basically an O-M5 minus some of the bells and whistles in a new case. Thats actually a good thing and for the price I think it's great. I have two every day carries that have both been damaged / destroyed in the last 4 weeks as stupidly lent them out so this is an ideal replacement.

I almost bought the OM-5-II but the PEN is even more in line with my EDC/compact travel camera requirements while keeping almost all of the OM-5-II's features. This one ticked all of my boxes (and then some) at a truly reasonable price: wasted no time in pre-ordering.

Thank you Bob. Great review.

Am a long term Olympus shooter and was waiting for this camera to come out. About three months I finally Ipicked up the fujifilm X-E5 and thrilled that I did after seeing the Olympus Pen...j

Interesting review thanks. It's also weather sealed (well, shower proof). I'd order it, but prefer a tilt screen for street photography, so will stick to my Olympus Pen EP-7 (for now!).

The pen is, mightier than the sword.

OM System has successfully read the market by applying the philosophy inherited from Maitani.

In some respects, it is a unique camera; in others, it is outperformed by models costing twice as much or more.

The PEN makes total sense.   However once you go MFT you get spoiled with the lens sizes making it hard to shoot FF or APSC.   Always enjoy your wisdom on your videos 🎉

The Pen is going to replace an EM-5 MkIII and an OM-1 MkI for me. I just find the U.I. of the EM5 and the weight of the OM-1 big-enough reasons for me to not take them out. I think the Pen will get me out there with my OM 17 and f4 zoom lenses. I also have the little Oly pancake zoom if the 2 latter lenses are a bit heavy for my needs, so ideal really. I sold my GX8 a few months ago, again mainly due to the weight (and lack of video Ibis), but I do miss the rangefinder style of this camera. The Pen will hopefully fulfill my needs  to get me back into my photography again-I've gone full circle, having started out with Bronica/Pentax medium format cameras, chunky tripods and Velvia slide film 30-odd years ago.

I think weathersealing ipx1 is a big one too at this price. The Set with the 14-42 III is all weathersealed for 100 Euro more.  ... Xe-5 and the Canon are non weathersealed. U dont get another weathersealed camera with Evf and Ibis at this low price. I was gettin to buy the Om3 ...but now im not so sure anymore =) Great Video like always =)

It's ok. More for people already invested in M43.
Ofc there are options that will give you a few more MP or an extra stop but overall you're getting a light package if you go with the smaller sized lenses and that's why I'll always have a compact M43 body.

Nowadays the price of lenses for MFT have skyrocketed. The 17mm and 20mm f1.4 are both really good lenses, but not great lenses.  It is the price which is shocking.

I Pre-ordered. It may well replace my XE-3. It should certainly have better focusing as most cameras do. & IBIS,,, Oh. My!

Nothing beats Olympus IBIS!!!!

I prefer to still get the Nikon ZF, or even the "Olympus Pen f."

great video! I have the Panasonic GX85. Im so tempted to pre-order the OM System Pen only because of 2 features: the autofocus and the internal ND filters. Other than that, for me, the Pen's other features really isnt something I'd need or even use.
