Toyota dealers in general seem to be very good. I have found them to be better than dealers for the other brands I've owned (Volvo, VW and Mazda). The pricing is absolutely fair I think and well worth paying a little extra to keep the warranty valid. I use RRG Bradford and they have been faultless in the almost 6 years I have been dealing with them . . . as has my Corolla.
I actually installed a dashboard CarPlay unit in my father’s old Mazda RX-8. The clever part is that it came with a reversing camera, which you connect to the reversing light. So now, when you put the car into reverse, the camera automatically turns on and displays the rear view on the screen. And the best part, the mod is easily reversible.
Had Toyota's for years, 2 Yaris, 1 Auris and just bought a Yaris cross. I always go for the service plan to spread the cost of the service and extend the warranty. Only traded in the Auris after 10 years as the warranty had ended.
Loved this video. That warranty included so long as you service at a Toyota dealership sounds like a bargain, and my next car will likely be a Toyota now due to the peace of mind this will bring. Thanks and keep the content coming - Phil, 42, UK
Had mine in for its second service last June, I initially booked a courtesy car but it wasn’t needed as they gave me the express service( an extra technician was available) I too had the video, regarding the brake wear, mine uses about1 mm a year, and according to the service manager I’ve about nine years left before the pads need replacing..
Depends on how long you want to keep a car but i would have gotten two oil changes in before reaching the first dealer oil change . I am not saying all dealers are like this but at the end of the day dealers are dealers they are there to sell and maintain cars they are not there to hand out favors .
I bought my partner the awd version for her 50th and she’s done 16000 trouble free miles with an average of 64mpg. ( she’s not as light footed) pay £27 pm for service package. Coming up 2 years old .I can’t wait till I get my hands on it when we upgrade in a few years time for her. Should out see me. Great review of a great little car thank you 🙏
We have both a Yaris, now 9 years old and a Hybrid CHR which we have had for a year now. Before we bough the CHR we test drove both the Yaris Cross and CHR. We found the CHR a much superior car both in driving and finnish. We currently average over 60 mpg. Both cars are serviced by a local Toyota dealer, Waltons of Penrith. They are a family company and we find their service seconds to none. Had a problem With the Yaris breaks, stuck caliper, this was repaired under The Toyota warranty scheme and Waltons soon sorted it. This is the last year under the 10 year warranty scheme which has been great. I will do my own servicing from next year. Easy on a petrol Yaris. Have my doubts I will service the CHR don't want to get electrocuted 😂
Great informed review. Particularly enjoyed “in my opinion” YT is full of opinion presented as fact. Given your calm reasoned approach I’m rating your opinion highly 👍
That video that Jemca filmed for you was excellent! A brilliant way to see the underside condition of your car. My Toyota dealer, Stephen Eagell of Rayleigh, doesn't provide this. BTW the engine doesn't charge the 12v battery. There's no alternator. It's charged with power from the HV battery via a DC-DC converter.
Very nice video. I have one of those with about 2000 Kms. Impressive car. The oil brand and quality used in the Toyota Services (as in other brands) is critical. It is not just the universal reference which I believe should be 0W-20 or 0W-16, ASI, ILSAC etc. It is the brand itself : interestingly for my wife's car, a Honda Hybrid jazz crosstar 2023, the oficial Honda dealer used an oil 0W-20 with correct ASI and ILSAC. But is not an Honda made oil, which they recommend, as per instruction manual, for hybrids, that, despite being 0w-20 also has a special additive that counteracts water vapour formation in hybrid engines due to large engine idle time. Here in Portugal Honda dealerships, for this car use the 0w-20 oil manufactured by GALP, the national brand oil, and at an extra cost the 0W-20 from Castrol. I enquired the honda dealership why they did not use the Honda motor oil, they said the GALP oil was authorised by Honda itself. When we bought the Yaris hybrid 2025 I questioned the Toyota dealer which oil did they use for the car, and hold and behold it was the 0w-20 GALP. By all means GALP is a reputable trustworthy international company, but I still think that dealers should use the brands motor oils, if they exist.
