I bought a 25 reg Yaris cross design a few months ago this month so far i am achieving 91mpg over 700 mile, town driving and country roads, it's a great little car.

J'ai une yaris cross 2026 en 130 ch Design (février 2026). J'adore cette voiture elle est super et pratique dans toutes situations. Même sur autoroute à 130 Km/h sur longue distance, elle est  très performante. Légère, elle tient très bien la route dans les virages centrifuges en doublant à grande vitesse, contrairement aux voitures plus lourdes. Le système d'aides à la conduite est fiable.  Et en plus, elle a un super look. La seule chose que je n'aime pas, c'est la climatisation : au pare-brise on ne la sent pas, obligé de la mettre face conducteur (maux de gorge)

Love my 2026 Yaris Cross Excel. All the safety gadgets. Comfy, handles well, economical and rather attractive.

Good to see some in car footage of one being driven. As an owner of the standard Yaris, from early 2023, I've seen one or two of the Yaris Crosses around. I think the Cross does not have any spare wheel – the one I have does have a narrow temporary one. They can be quite useful – I did use it on another older Yaris after a puncture, and the original standard one was repairable for about £20 at Halfords, so a lot cheaper than having to replace the whole tyre.

My Yaris Premiere did a claimed 72mpg driving 8miles home from Durham today, I don't know how accurate the on board computer is.

2026 Toyota Yaris Cross Excel, I have had mine three weeks, prior to that a Honda Jazz, cross  the Yaris  is a nicer car, more tech more room in the boot and front, less in the rear.  I often park on a narrow road, the only thing the Jazz had over the Yaris was a better turning circle. So far I have only driven inner city journeys, Cruise control is certainly nicer and easier to use on the Yaris, the few times I have used it. The Yaris camera's are a lot better, although I am still leaning the info tech, the big screen is better, and the maps easier to use, for example you can switch off things like garages, hotels etc, and back on when you need them, with two clicks.

Had a look at these and surprised at how expensive these were.
Another thing I found was the bodywork seemed very flimsy compared with my BMW.

I can get  over 70mpg click to click in my gen 2 1-8 CHR. So you should be close to 80mpg driving this Yaris cross driving economically.

It's not a 14:1 compression ratio! It's probably more like an effective compression ratio of 10:1. On an Atkinson cycle engine, on the compression stroke, the intake valve is held open initially, to facilitate an effective compression ratio of around 10, which is required for efficient and effective combustion. The EXPANSION ratio is around 14:1, allowing the full energy available from the 'bang' stroke to be exploited.

7:24 there should also be a default/standard driving mode (at least the older hybrids have it). You get to it by pressing PWR a second time if the car is in PWR-mode (same with ECO if ECO). I actually like the no-mode-mode best on my old Auris.

Just don't go on holiday for two weeks as you will get battery drain on the 12v battery and you have to call out the AA like I did after coming back from holiday. It's because Toyota fit a battery that is too small for the car as I got told by a engineer at Toyota

I find the 2026 excel to be very noisy at 70mph. Difficult to listen to the Radio or hold conversations.

My long term average over the last 10 months from new, including winter months is 69.8 mpg. Since April it has not dropped below 70mpg and during July was 78mpg..

It’s should be noted that the 10 year warranty Toyota give you for servicing with a dealer is nowhere near as comprehensive as the initial new car warranty they give you when brand new. Yes major issues like an engine or gearbox blow up for example will be covered but smaller things that the initial new car warranty  covers will be disputed by the dealer. Trust me I know from personal experience. Factor in Toyota’s very expensive servicing costs and you certainly pay for that peace of mind. 🤷 Also as far as I’m aware Toyota haven’t entirely cracked the none starting issue if left un driven for a while, as far as I’m aware they have fitted a slightly bigger auxiliary battery but it hasn’t eradicated the problem you are still advised to hook it up to a trickle charger if not regularly used. 🤨
