Compared to the Pen, Om-5 has faster burst rate, buffer size, higher maximum shutter speeds, USH II SD card slot, faster processing of e.g. hi res shots, part metal build, ip53 weather sealing and is freeze proof. I still like the Pen for an EDC rangefinder, and for 90% of shooting the differences with the OM-5 are negligible, but the OM-5 is definitely more ‘professional’, and a step up.

I just got the OM-3 - having moved up from the OM- D EM-5. Although I'm super-excited, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the features/shooting modes. But, thanks to your videos, Jimmy, I feel confident I will master my new camera. Looking forward to your future "teachings"…

Would love to see a JPEG SOOC comparison between the Pen and OM 3? Saw in other channel, the tone, color, contrast is a bit different 😊

Looking forward to upcoming review of PEN.  I’m thinking it’s about time to update from some of my older Olympus aged PEN, M1 and M5 gear.  I like the idea of the new PEN, so it might match my current needs best.

I love everything about MFT and your knowledge and insights will be something I will be watching more and more as I know im not getting the best from my Olympus E-M1 Mark II. I keep thinking, should I upgrade this to a OM-3 or a PEN? I want something that I can live with thats going to last at least 5 years. This video points me more towards the OM-3 so it might be worth a trip to my local OM store to try the two models out.
I love the Cornwall shots in the film, along with the London shots where you are sporting a Seiko Arnie on your wrist, LOVE THAT WATCH. Im guessing you're a Seiko fan too.

Pentax K-50 etc entry level cameras were weather sealed over 10 years ago. Switched from Pentax to Olympus/OM systems since both systems are similar in innovation and photographer focused design.

Great timing I was only last night trying to get an understanding of their options thinking about getting one of their weather sealed options for EDC

Thanks for the run down. I have the OM5-mkii and the OM-3, and I ordered the PEN. To me, the PEN combines the creative freedom of the OM-3, with the 'carry-for-hours' light weight and ergonomics of the OM-5mkii. The f/1.8 primes are perfect for any of these, along with the smaller zooms (to include the new 14-42 mkiii weather-sealed lens), as is the 20mm f/1.4.  As you mention, the 1.2 primes may be a bit heavy for all except the OM-1 mkii, but I really like using the 45mm f/1.2 with the OM-5mkii. I expect the 14-150 mm mkii lens will be great with the PEN, as well.

OM System is doing a great job of creating a wonderful "system."

Urban, everyday user = Pen
Outdoor, sport user = OM-5
Premium travel, creator, retro = OM-3
Pro, do everything workhorse OM-1
