53:25 Can you imagine Voldemort getting random floods of spell theories just overloading his brain. Turns to Wormtail, "Potter's study for his OWLs..."

It would be fun to weigh the books before and after the highlighting. Figure out exactly how much ink was added to the pages.

Harry thinking about Umbridge being fired to conjure his Patronus . A truly glorious thought !

“Have we ever come off better for mixing with Hagrid’s monster mates?” How about that niffler last year, Ron?

@52:58 No guys, clearly Voldemort realizes its O.W.L season for Harry's year and doesn't want to interfere with his education. That's why he never attacks until after the school year ends remember. That's why Harry isn't seeing visions of the Department of Mysteries

I like to think that Umbridge knew Harry was taking the Astronomy OWL, and that's why she chose that moment. She wanted him to feel helpless while watching her take down Hagrid.

Harry: does poorly in Astronomy O.W.L.
J: And I took that personally.

You know what would’ve been amazing- Dumbledore leaves Hogwarts ‘in style’ and just shows up at Grimwald Place and is like “hay Sirius I’ve come to stay!” And they are like house mates for the rest of the school year and Dumbledore can help with the cleaning up and getting rid of dark things- including Sirius’s dark thoughts cuz he wouldn’t be so lonely and I think Dumbledore would probably be a good like ‘kind uncle figure’ to help Sirius get through some of his trauma and mature a bit, and he probably would’ve been kinder to Kreacher and noticed more were he was missing.

What Umbridge did with Hagrid was a classic police escalation tactic, where you show up with more men than needed for the actual job in the effort to make the person confronted act badly and get arrested.

As a teacher who is about to enter standardized test time (so fun!), some insights. In my school district, teachers cannot administer the test to their own students. I test the grade above me. This is mostly because since student scores are tied to our ratings (and in some places-our paycheck) they want to prevent teachers from helping students with questions. This would be why Flitwick does the Mauraders DADA and McGonnagal does charms. Umbridge might just think she is above that. Also, the utter madness that occurs during astronomy would be a “testing irregularity”. At the first bang, the time would be noted, papers collected and students separated until it could be arranged for them to continue.

The wording that McGonagall moved no more after being stunned is pretty much the exact wording that Lavender gets after being attacked by Greyback, so that's why I just thought she was wounded but not dead after book 7.

Quiz Idea: O.W.Ls Exam, a quiz about trivia on their various classes and what happens or what they're doing when they're learning a spell etc...

one note about finding Venus in the sky at roughly 1am: Assuming their exams occurred around the first of June, Venus would've been beneath the horizon from northern England/Scotland. Venus is known as the "evening/morning star" because, due to the fact that its orbit is closer to the sun than the earth's, it will never be extremely far from the sun in the sky, and therefore is only visible around sunset or sunrise, and during the deeper night hours is below the horizon

To “vent one’s spleen” is a reference to ancient humoral medicine, wherein the spleen was considered to be the seat of anger, melancholy and spite. The word ‘splenetic’ still means irritable or ill-tempered.

The best day of the week ain't it

I think she wasn't just trying to fire Hagrid but either arrest or capture him to try and get information about Dumbledore from him

52:15 You’re not gonna make a “Rodents of Unusual Size” Princess Bride Reference? 😂🤣

At midnight, in June, in Scotland, in 1996, Harry should not have been able to find Orion, or Venus, or Mars. Add that to "perfect stargazing night" with a bright moon, and I think we can pretty safely conclude that Rowling is not a stargazer (at least when she wrote this book).
