You know Umbridge is slow when Hermione is leaving her behind

Voldemort probably realized that if during ls most students would be sleep deprived and stressed out, so he'd be able to enter his mind more easily.

Umbridge and Lockhart parallel each other. Both are forced into an area they don't want to go (forest and chamber of secrets), both are ready to sacrifice children, and both fall victim to their own strengths (her authority and his memory charm).

Can’t believe you missed an opportunity for “I THINK THERE ARE 6 OF US ACTUALLY!!!” said Luna calmly.

As for Grawp's intelligence, he's speaking in a language he's only been learning for less than a year.

I always forget that the events of Fight and Flight and Out of the Fire aren’t in the same chapter.

I think Hermione's stumbling on how to interact with the Centaurs is as much her mistakes as their own xenophobia and being convinced that wizards are tyrannical and conceited. Theres absolutely some truth in how some wizards behave, and even more so in the past, the Centaurs are absolutely dedicated to seeing the worst in all wizards, and even have their own superiority complex

I think the situation with the centaurs is a continuation of a character flaw that Hermione has always had and is extremely in character. Even with how she handles SPEW everyone tells her that house elves don’t want freedom and like helping humans but she just responds that it’s because they’re uneducated and brainwashed. Her heart is in the right place and she’s right that slavery is definitely wrong and the house elves are being mistreated but she ends up offending them because she doesn’t attempt to understand them. It never occurs to Hermione that these other creatures have a different culture than she does and they think differently than she does. Hermione is so smart and good at understanding people usually but at the end of the day she’s 15.

Spiders vs centaurs the many legged war

imagine if the Ford Anglia showed up to save Harry from what it mistook for one of many, large, carnivorous, toads known to inhabit the deeper parts of forest, often serving as acromantula food.

@ClayCowboy 5 months ago

Aragog being mentioned gets him back in your mind for his funeral in Half Blood Prince and then Voldemort using his clearing in Deathly Hallows.

@danielfleming5585 5 months ago

The Ford Anglia would be a very funny addition to The Battle of Hogwarts.

I was there for this one live in Denver!

Video idea: What if Harry (or more likely Hermione) had thought of Snape? I imagine it starting with the "I told you to never come back to this office Potter!", and "So you still can not close your mind, you're so weak". When Snape finally does reach out to the Order HQ to investigate, and tells Harry that Sirius is still there, DOES HARRY REALLY BELIEVE HIM?
I feel like Harry would definitely think that Snape is lying to him. Snape would be like "Oh your godfather is still cowering in his parents house, don't worry Potter" and Harry would think "Isn't that what Voldy would have ordered him to say to make sure I stay AWAY from the department of mysteries while Voldy uses Sirius to get the weapon?"

Ben took the time to talk to the big giant leprechaun. Thank you so much. It was the singular best moment of my life.

When it comes to wand allegiance I believe that when a wand is ‘claimed’ by another it’s not like it’ll no longer work for the orginal owner but that itll just work for the victor as well so Harry never lost mastery of his own wand. Then you have the ever fickle Elder Wand that runs on its own rules and only allows itself to be allied with one master at a time

In terms of using the floo powder to get to the Ministry, I'm currently listening to Half Blood Prince and Chapter 17 (A Sluggish Memory) starts with the following...

Late in the afternoon, a few days after New Year, Harry, Ron, and Ginny lined up beside the kitchen fire to return to Hogwarts. The Ministry had arranged this one-off connection to the Floo Network to return students quickly and safely to the school.

That paragraph implies that the Floo Network is not normally connected to Hogwarts. Perhaps there is a difference between using the Floo Network for a "phone call" and using it for travel. If that's the case, they would not have been able to travel from Hogwarts to the Ministry via the Floo Network.

I can imagine hagrid teaching all the years about the same animals at a time because it would be a lot of work to get 7 different animals ready every single day.
And care of magical creatures would def be like a repetitive learning experience.
So maybe they learn more and more each year about those creatures.
