I think what gets overlooked as well was just the level of racism Zayn faced within the band. Even the label of being "mysterious" is very icky to me. One Direction lore is actually crazy

This is like watching an industry expert discuss their PhD dissertation

@aruvius 1 year ago

insane foreshadowing that the album right before Zayn left was called Four

@sheikad0w 1 year ago

“for girls who didn’t date in middle school or high school” holy shit, i did not need to be called out like that tf 😭

omg you saved me.... i was about to study

It’s insane how young they were when they were SO famous

I love your encouragement of Niall. He's often kind of overlooked in the discussions about the band but he's consistently successful and super unproblematic

no imagine you’re 22 and thousands of 15 year olds who have crushes on you are your employers. sounds like a nightmare

I'm not even a Directioner, but I remember where I was when Zayn left 1D. I swear there were screams in my college student union. Honestly, it's not even the music but the cultural impact keeping me interested in 1D after 10 years.

this is like christmas morning for 20-something-year-old girls who have been coping with the current political and economic climate by reverting back into their childhood interests

Tbh what's more "normal 22 year old" than posting shitty songs on soundcloud and blowing up your close friendships on social media without thinking about the consequences?

fun fact about me is that my first ever boyfriend dumped me on the same day that zayn left one direction and i texted him saying VERBATIM “first zayn leaves 1D and now this, today is terrible.”

the harry styles body count obsession in interviews was so disgusting. i even had a problem with it at the time as a teenager

@maddym8611 1 year ago

The way you said “I would throw myself from a building” one sentence and “I don’t wanna clown on someone who just passed away” the next was crazy I gasped

@lichus27 1 year ago

i would die and kill for a video about 5sos lore made by you!!!!!

Now THIS is investigative journalism

I think I was the only directioner who celebrated when Zayn left 1D. Because as a Muslim, the amount of racism and Islamophobia he experienced by his own so called “fans” was horrific to witness, I can’t even imagine what it was like to experience it. And their management didn’t protect him or any of the boys from constant harassment. I was happy to see him leave that mess
