Let me explain who they were and how important this song was.
In England, The Specials appeared on a music programme called Top of the Pops, back then the big music programme. They performed Gangsters.
It was in the school holidays, about a week later we all went back to school and all anyone talked about was this band.
We had never seen or heard anything like it.
We didn't know what had changed, but everything changed after that. Our time, our music.

Shiney LOL, I believe Terry Hall would admit he used certain drugs to help his anxiety at times.

Youre correct~ In almost all b/w street scenes in tv shows & movies the pavements are wet.. for the reflection factor.. More for 'lights to reflect off of...

So glad to see so many people, especially Americans discovering and appreciating the 2Tone/Ska revival of the late 1970s.GANGSTERS by THE SPECIALS was my favourite of theirs and SHOULD have been their first No 1 when it came out in 1979.It was their first single release and still sounds as good today in 2026 as it did in 1979.👓 RIP to Terry,JB & Rico🙏

You might dig Ghost Town if you like the creepiness.

Their best imo too much too young is listen to that if you haven’t. SKA was my thing as a teenager. Loved it. Specials AKA Free Nelson Mandela. A black reactor from the US didn’t know who Mandela was 😞
