RIP Terry Hall

Too Much Too Young next!! 😁👌

Can you check out A Message to you, Rudy?

The connection between Jamaican & UK music can't be overstated enough. Sometimes obvious sometimes subtle, working class people living & growing up together...

The Beat - Sole Salvation, I Confess, Mirror in the Bathroom, Stand down Margaret.

I would recommend checking out On My Radio by The Selecter, who were another major 2-Tone ska band from Coventry 👌

Rat Race is a great one, and I second Too Much Too Young

Don't call me scar face was the lovely Neville Staple.  He's still doing occasional  gigs at 71 years old.

The late great Amy Winehouse performanced with the specials was a moment long live ska music

Great reaction, your next song by The Specials should be “ A Message To You Rudy” thanks from New Jersey.

One Step Beyond 's opening line is 'Buster he feels the heat, with a rock steady beat' . Madness, The Specials, Bad Manners and the like are known as the second wave of ska music. The guy on the keyboard for The Specials set up their own record label ' Two Tone Records ' and signed up all the other bands that were breaking out at the time

You cannot understate the impact that this record, The Specials and their label Two-Tone Records had on the British music scene in 1979. None of us knew what "ska" was. But these sounds were ripping up dancefloors across the country. They also came as the antidote to the rise of racism, fuelled by the far-right National Front party - particularly amongst skinheads. It was in the label name, the black/white colours in their clothes and the mixture of punk/Jamaican influences and band personnel. They looked aggressive, but acted cool. Everyone wanted to wear a mod suit, a thin tie and a pork pie hat. And then, there was Terry Hall's vocals... 😎

Need to mention that this was based on the song Al Capone by Prince Buster.  Al Capone's nickname was Scarface. The Prince Buster song has the line "Don't call me Scarface. My name is Capone."

All the working class kids usd to dance to this back in 79/80. black and white kids. 2 Tone.

Jerry Dammers on keyboards is the master arranger. The Specials managed to fuse punk with Jamaican ska and rocksteady. A unique street blend. Not for the purists

Proper Ska! Yes thanks you 🎶 ❤

70s Quality. R.I.P. Terry Hall.

1:42  nice. Not my team, but a good choice. A real club for real people.

Guns of Brixton: the Clash

The Specials were independent and started their own record lable 2-Tone. A.K.A. Black and White, and promoted bands like Madness and the Selector
