With the passing of Tim Curry, Nostalgia Critic looks over one of the actor's most celebrated movies, even if people didn't see it that way when it first came out. Let's talk about, Clue.

Clue is a 1985 American comedy mystery film directed and written by Jonathan Lynn, who developed the story with John Landis. Based on the board game Cluedo (also known as Clue), the film stars Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, and Lesley Ann Warren. Set in 1954, the plot follows six strangers who gather at a secluded mansion where a series of murders unfolds, forcing the group to determine the identity of the killer among them.

To put it into perspective. Tim Curry, Sam Neil, Kaylee Hottle, Daviegh Chase, Hayden Pantiere, Dolly Parton, and Peter Cullen all died in a single summer

I think it was Doug who said it best: "For every one star of a movie he's in, he's the reason it got that one star."
We'll miss you Tim Curry and your Tim... Curry-sma.

"So I chose to expose myself". Only Curry could get away with that line.

Wadsworth is definitely one of Tim Curry's most underrated characters. Easily the best part of the film, along with that singing telegram. May this beautiful man and savior of bad movies rest in peace.

Everyone in Clue gave off an aura that they were having the time of their life performing, like they would all collapse in laughter the moment CUT was called. I choose to believe the whole cast had as much fun as they made it look.

To bad we never got a movie with both Tim Curry and Alan Rickman in it. Those two playing off each other would of been glorious.

24:13 I love the use of Frank-N-Furter footage here. I think many people see Rocky Horror as pure camp with bad writing and stiff acting, but imo it's one of Tim Curry's most dynamic performances. Frank-N-Furter is bombastic, deranged, but also heartfelt and enthusiastic. "I'm Going Home" makes me tear up every time, and it's all because of Tim's acting. He will be missed and I hope he knew just how many people love him ❤️

Madeline Kahn's monologue of "I hated her SOOOOO much! Flames, on the side of my face" still lives rent free in my mind. Kahn improvised this moment on the spot, and you can see Tim Curry stifling a laugh, while Martin Mull and Christopher Lloyd are looking confused, wondering who gave her those lines.

As a kid, I was so disappointed when Wadsworth turned out to be the villain. This was before I knew Tim Curry always plays the villain.

"And are you our host?"
"Oh no, sir. I am merely the humble butler."
"And what exactly is it you do?"
"I butle, sir."

"Is Mr. Boddy going to stick around for the whole movie?"

"No. In fact, he's just Lee Ving."

"I! Am! Your singing telegram!"
BAM!

Easily the best and funniest death in the movie.

You can't fully appreciate Clue until you've seen it at least 10 times. It's just that packed with witty jokes, funny reactions and other fun details. I liked it the first time I saw it as a kid, but it just kept getting better with every rewatch. Now it's genuinely one of my favorite comedies ever.

Tim Curry wasn't just a passing fad. He made every single one of his performances account for something. Whether it was a minimal part or the star, Tim and legacy has touched us all in a way that fans of his knew to appreciate. He made us, cheer, be afraid and love all in the same scenes. Tim was such a great artist. Rest in Pennywise.

RIP Tim Curry 1946-2026!🕊🙏🏻

I find one of the most brilliant foreshadowing lines in the entire movie is right at the start where he says that "By now you would realize nobody in this room is being adressed by their true name." while HE is IN the room as well.

Fun Fact. Carrie Fisher was actually cast as Miss Scarlet but ended up in rehab right before filming started. The director still wanted her for the part and she wanted to do it, but the studio didn't want to insure her. So they had to quickly recast and cast Lesley Ann Warren.
