Being bullied for being homeschooled then turning out smarter than the bullies is a heavenly feeling tbh

Edit: my first actual comment and its the top one now??? Thanks a lot guys!!!

I feel like parents are starting to treat their children less like actual human beings, and more like a pet.

As a senior who is graduating next Tuesday, I am proud to say i have never once used AI in any capacity in any schoolwork.

"I can't read your handwriting" probably means that she needs a printed text, not an iPad

This is a parenting and education problem. Society is letting these kids down.

Puppies don't get led around, they follow their mother. As all beings do. The fact that we are essentially erasing that from our own young now is insane.

The no phone day kid thing really hurts.

I’m 26 I was in high school just after the laptops started getting more used so most things were on pen and paper obviously. It’s crazy how quick the decline in intelligence and effort has been in just a handful of years. I’m terrified of what 10 years time where we will be as a human race

Back in my day kids struggled learning cursive now they struggle learning the alphabet

As a Gen Alpha Child*, watching videos like this makes me very glad my parents are history and english majors.

I had a pretty old school, jerk teacher back in highschool, and he said something that JUST came back to me right now. "What, you cant use a mathematic formula just because the variables are different? Do you also need the fork you have at home to eat in a restaurant" and it makes so much sense... may have been a slightly senile physics teacher, but damn he was right

as a gen alpha kid, now i respect my parents now for always monitoring my devices

When I was in seventh grade, I wrote a birthday card for my friend Andrew, and he admitted that he couldn’t read it because he didn’t know how to read or write cursive. I asked if he had any interest in learning, and I spent the rest of the school year teaching him cursive. When my birthday came around, his gift to me was a card written entirely in cursive.
I’m now going into my sophomore year of high school. Last year, I forgot my watch at home one day. My friend happened to be wearing an analog watch, but when I asked for the time in the middle of lunch, she asked, “How would I know that?” I pointed out that she had a watch on her wrist, and she said, “That’s just an accessory; I don’t actually know how to read it.”

As a Gen Alpha I am starting to make a animated object show and my parents said I should use ai to help make the characters to make it go quicker and I said I wanted it to be all man made with no ai and I find it crazy that kid don’t watch cartoons cuz I watched every thing on Cartoon Network

Saying the kids "replaced their parents with social media" is so stupid. The parents replaced parenting with giving children unlimited access to the internet is what happened.

As a gifted kid, there were always kids bullying others for being ugly or smth like that, and they couldn’t tell the difference between their, they’re, there, here, her, heir, choose, chose, whose, who’s, etc.

The scary thing is thinking of one of these kids in a couple of years as your doctor. "AI says that I should remove your spleen." "NO, I have a broken leg!"

I’m 15, and somehow I feel more mature than some of the PARENTS I see. Our world is screwed

I’m a Gen Alpha. I have no problems with reading, reading a clock, staying off my phone, not using AI, using my own thoughts and decisions, I’ve seen TONS of cartoons, I know the difference in effect and affect, and I also HATE brain rot and AI slop. Most of the high schoolers shown here seem a LOT older than me, so seeing them not know such simple things makes me totally surprised and upset that the people around me are like this. I would love to see a world where kids younger than me played with toys instead of iPad games and watched fun educational cartoons instead of cringy, brain rot videos, and the future, soon to be, adults which are the older high schoolers could understand the basic difference of affect and effect and how to read a clock.

Edit: i read all of the replies, I’m happy I’m not the only one who is disappointed in this generation!! Feel free to continue replying with your experiences and opinions!!

I remember this from that one Kurt Vonnegut lecture: I'm paraphrasing here; "My son-in-law has been lobotomised by his computer! Any question I ask him, he goes and asks his computer; it seems to him that I want an answer, when really what I want is a son-in-law."
