Tinned potato and tuna salad with no extra cooking is a good emergency meal when the power is out. I'm in Australia and we've had times when bushfires or storms or floods have taken out the town's electricity for days. I use the potatoes, tuna, dried hwrbs and a vinagrette sauce

Tinned Potatoes are great for bulking out numerous meals , I add them to chilli con carne  , curry , stews and soups .

As a kid, holidays in the caravan we'd have tin potatoes, tin corn beef and salad or baked beans, yummy.

I like potato salad made with salad cream.

I use half and half tartare sauce with the mayo for the tang and throw in any left over mixed veg, diced carrot, whatever I have to hand.

I often go camping I always take a tin of new potatoes now I shall take three thank you for the tips

Good ideas! I definitely will be giving the patties a go👍 a couple of other ideas that I cook regularly with tinned potatoes are Bombay Potatoes: dice potatoes and add a little oil in a frying pan, add a teaspoon of mustard seeds, a teaspoon of turmeric and half teaspoon of chilli powder, when the seeds start to pop add the potatoes and cook for a couple of minutes until coated then season to taste. Tin potatoes also great in a frittata with feta and spinach or Spanish style.❤

There are many ways to reuse these ideas with whats to hand.... ham and cheese patties, any leftover meat or veg patties, etc, all can be used to extend leftovers.
I use them to make different curries, using those jars of curry paste, with leftover veg, or frozen veg, or with just chopped fried onions to make bombay potatoes, all great with an egg on top.
Leek and potatoe soup with fresh or frozen leeks and a stock cube.
Pair with chopped hotdogs in the salad, especially with a chopped gherkin and mustard, or pan fry chopped potatoes and chopped hot dogs for a lovely quick store cupboard meal.

😋 Added a celery stalk to the potato salad and it was delish

I am a true potato lover and  and I use canned potatoes all the time. The are great for stews, soups bake and broil.  Yum.  I also loved the print on yoir black top. Ann from southeastern North Carolina, USA

I used to go camping with guides and scouts. We did tin can stew which was tinned meat tinned potatoes and any tinned veg you wanted. It was so good with fresh bread sat by the camp fire. I also put tinned potatoes in with chops or chicken pieces in the oven to roast

Good idea to make the patties and potato salad, never thought of using them this way. Thank you for sharing practical, sensible ways to prepare realistic family meals.

We love these with seasoning  garlic, what ever we fancy at the time and put in the air fryer.very nice.must try the patties

Use some leek instead of spring onions. So much bigger and so much more economical. Another way to make the patties is to use a packet of instant mashed potato. Makes a lot more and ive done them like this for years 😊

Thank you for not trying to teach me how to grate a carrot or chop an onion.
Can't wait to try these.

Delicious!

We make "fishcakes". Boil potatoes that we mash dry (meaning no butter or milk) we sautee onions in butter, then add any fish. Canned salmon, canned mackerel, immitation crab meat, or any fresh or frozen fish that you cook then flake up. No need for an egg as we use more potatoes. Then we panfry. We freeze and use when we want. They're great for lunch or a quick meal with vegetables. We usually make about 1/2 cup of the mixture into patties.

Tinned potatoes are perfect for corned beef hash

Jamie oliver has fish cakes using can potatoes , tin tuna and tin sweet corn very close to your recipe

I like to add a couple of slices of chopped crispy bacon to potato salad.

My kids love these warm with just tuna mayo. They are great if on a budget 👍🏼 someone asked me too once what I do with them
