never tell a brit who he can or can't drink with

As a UK Veteran i would like to say thankyou to all the black troops who helped to SAVE THE WORLD

The UK has never had segregation, we’ve never stopped black and white people marrying and we’ve never had to state the colour of our children on birth certificates. The freedom and acceptance of black troops in the UK, planted the seed of the Civil Rights movement when black troops returned to the US.

It was documented that one white Brit was asked what they thought of the thousands US servicemen that populated the isle during this time (mid WW2) and he responded 'They're great...but I hope they don't bring all the white ones with them next time!'...lol....That's Brit humour right there with a hint of irony and truth...

I’m a 77 year old British woman, who was friends with a girl whose dad was a black G.i.  He went back to the States, her mum didn’t know she was pregnant at the time.  There are lots of children in the U.K who had black fathers from the U.S.

I'm from Bamber Bridge, just south of Preston. We're all very proud of our grandparents and the stand they took on that day to help our friends who came to help us fight the Nazis.

"im going to celebrate today instead of being mad" . You brothers are always welcome in our pubs, in perpetuity. Love from the UK

This was one of the incidents that sparked your civil rights movement.

We're British, we have to always do the right thing, we can't stand injustice, and will drink with who we chose to drink with.

Have you guys watched the British crusade against slavery? That's worth a watch.

As a white British man. I'm so proud of the local people of Bamber Bridge and how they all stood up to the terrible racist bullying of the American MP's on that occasion. The locals insistence to side with those black American soldiers makes me feel so proud. I heard also, the main reason those 27 'convictions' were quashed or overturned, was due to the level of outrage shown by the British people to the American diplomatic service here in the UK. There can never be any excuse for racism of any kind, anywhere in the 21st century.   🙋‍♂ I'm not saying racism doesn't exist here in the UK, that would be nuts, but thank God the vast majority of British people will always stand up and fight it, and that makes me proud.

Private William Crossland never made it home...He is buried in the US war cemetery near Cambridge,UK (200 miles south east of Bamber Bridge)...In the US archives website his death is accounted as  'DNB' or  'Died Non-battle' with no specific details about the Bamber Bridge incident...Go visit him and place a coin or flower...or salute him...but remember him...he deserves at least that...doesn't he

Nobody tells the British who we can mix with.

Old Brit here. We do the right thing sometimes. The Brits in Bamber Bridge ❤

That's fcked up. Imagine going to a war from which you may not come back, only to be killed by your own side before even getting to the battle field. Very sad

Im a 63 year old white brit.  You can only judge people by their deeds and words.
Like it or not, we're all related,  all descended for the same original humans. All from the same parts of Africa.
We all want peace, love and family.
Wishing everyone health and happiness.

The experience of Black US soldiers to a society that didn’t discriminate planted the seeds of the Civil Rights Movement. These brave men realised that an equal society was not only possible, but the only just and sensible way any society that promotes the ideals of freedom and democracy can survive and thrive.

It Doesn’t Matter What Colour Skin You Have …. It’s The Person Within The Skin That MATTERS .. ❤️🇺🇸🇬🇧❤️

BRIT here 🇬🇧. Some people have blue eyes, some people have brown eyes... Some people have blond hair, dark hair. We are all individuals and we are all human beings ❤
