Finally someone who is straight forward with a gift of knowledge that I truly appreciate! You are so good with painting a clear picture of how to and why to do this or that in a food forest. You’re a blessing and so please keep sharing more content! I really like your work!
It was a great lesson that food forest is about planting relationships not just foods. :) Thank you so much for sharing courages to experience all the mistakes and victories by just starting a small guild!
I'm a lazy gardener, so this is definitely for me lol. I just keep trying to find plants that will care for themselves, and letting "weeds" get nice and big then chopping and dropping them lol
Pure wisdom - and you are not a white-bearded philosopher! As an 61-year oldtimer, I couldn't agree more. I hope many permaculturists will listen to your pragmatic, independent thinking. And are as honest and humble about their failures as you.
"the goal isn't perfection but it's more like progress" - reminds me of a concept of utopia that i like, which is that utopia isn't an end goal perfect state of the world but a world that is striving to be its best
Your video is on the exact moment for me, i’m in the planning fase of a sort of foodforest in central Portugal but also overwelmed with al the information. I do feel your message in this video! Thats exacly my plan, but its difficult if you have to intervene first because of rained out soil
Wow! That was an eye opener. Talk about a paradigm shift. I can now see where I've continually made all those same mistakes you've mentioned. Recently I had a very vivid dream about the food web and saw the interconnectedness of all living things from microbes to mammals . And although I thought the dream was beautiful, humbling and informative I just didn't 'get it' until I watched your video. Thank you 🙏
I started my food forest with 5 seabuckthorn trees and later added goumi and other fruit bearing nitrogen fixers and tons and tons of wood chips over the last 5 years. I have since inserted other fruit and nut trees in between nitrogen fixers. You just have to be patient and observe, learn, and do change in small iterative ways and like you said, don't try to control nature, but use it as an ally and a teacher. Thanks for sharing your experience. Great video as always. I have a very special connection with my food forest as it feeds my soul and can't imagine ever moving. How was your experience in this regard? Thanks again.
You’re overcomplicating your food forest (do this instead)
