Lol! Apparently. I'm not the only fan who missed seeing your Portugal project updates. I can't believe i found you again under a new name and living in the Azores, developing a new food forest! You're amazing and living a great adventure. Thank you for your knowledge, inspiration, and can do spirit. You helped motivate me to start my own garden and, most importantly, more open to both failure and success!
I remember when I saw your FIRST video of your land in Central Portugal commenting to my spouse, how CRAZY it was to build an orchard perched on mountain hill, on a difficult, poor soil filled with rocks (probable water scarcity) and exposed to the extreme burning sun and long droughts of Central Portugal from mid June to mid September and them the harsh winters with the never ending rain and the occasional Atlantic storms. It was the first thought that came to my mind having being in Northern Portugal for 35 years. Always see where the locals are (were) settled and what are (were) doing for farming. Centuries of natural selection and wisdom tell where it is feasible or not to place a farm or an orchard. And always check the climograms/climographs, typically showing monthly average temperature and precipitation. A look at climographs from Central Portugal would let you see the terrible scorching, hot summer droughts and the long rainy winters that wash the thin top organic soil and contribute to the acidity of the soil. Understanding the climate of a specific area, helps to prevent costly mistakes, constant headaches and plenty of personal and material problems.
I use all my weeds as mulch heaping up between the trees and do a lot of chop and drop. I am also establishing different varies of clover, perennial sunflower , comfrey vegetables and herbs etc round my fruit and nut trees, was a paddock of invasive grass 2 years ago so very happy with how it is going with my over 100 food trees, vegetables. I turn the weed heaps if they show signs of coming back to life in wet winter weather đ
glad to see you back!! gotta admit, you're quite a big reason why I started filming my own videos :)) not quite building a homestead yet, but who knows what's comingđ

Glad to see Dutch Farmer back with a new name. Always enjoyed your videos. With love from India. Your new place with lot of Banana plants resembles Kerala the southern state of India.
đ§ĄGlad you are back and wishing you and your loved ones the very best for your new chapter in the Azores. đWonderful place to grow year round and being self sufficient and far away from overcrowded and difficult places. â¤
