I live in Malta which is more arid than Portugal. I've watched all your old videos too, I love the channel. I've learned from you and I implemented things. But my context is so different, I have to water even the olive trees in summer, even though I amended the soil, mulched heavily and planted ground covers. I am making olive tree guilds for now so I can fill the space, create some shade and break the wind. Once established I can add some stonefruit tree guilds. I plant a lot of annuals too and they take too much of my time because where I am is difficult to automate. Thanks for the videos
I am new to your channel and am loving it. When I watch other vlogs I'm usually left with questions such as"Aren't you disturbing the roots doing that? Isn't that planted a little too close?" You're vlogs give good information and answers all my other questions. You make so much sense!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interesting note, about planting at different times of the year. This is true especially for trees like Avocados. In my experience, Citrus trees tend to be hardier.
Trees have deep roots, yes, but they also have shallow roots as well, I had a veggie garden that I had to give up on and move because the neighbours tree kept colonising it with roots, every year I removed them and they would grow back in for the next year, in the end I gave up and moved it.
Moreno! Would love a quick update on the move from Central Portugal to Azores and how the fam is doing. I was googling like crazy trying to find your channel again when I was reminded of your swale project. Seems like a lot of changes on your end. Glad to have found your channel again!
Wonderful advice Moreno, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience! Mulch with wood chips Plant in autumn Chop and drop before your rainy season starts 💚💚💚
