Really dropped the ball not titling this, ‘Gandalf the White Supremacist.’

All metal heads after big sigh said "fuck, here we go again"

You have no idea how fast I clicked this video. Varg is one of my ongoing favorite internet main characters, he's INSANE. I used to read his blog back in like 2010 & laugh until I couldn't breathe over things like him insisting the French have a bump on their skulls that make them good at math.

seeing varg referred to as 'tiktok's' anything is crazy to me. never has something made me feel older

"A metal musician turned murderer-" and the sentence only got wilder from there

The wizard to alt-right pipeline is pretty established by now, sadly.

"Saruman the GAAAaaaaayyyyy" made me lol, ty ty

The irony not C's crying about not understanding their subtle cultural differences and except them.

Fun fact there are two famous comic book writers who are also wizards. Both of them are however pretty chill guys. They also don't like each other.

i was sitting here listening to this not watching and i was like huh i wonder why he’s talking about varg. I was shook when i realized he was the subject of the video. HOW IS HE STILL AROUND??????

Oh by the way Burzum means darkness in the black speech, it's part of the inscription on the one ring.

As a former wannabe edgy 13 year old who thought Burzum was cool but has long since grown up - I did not, in the year of our lord 2024, have "Varg becomes a TikTok weirdo worthy of lefty YouTube video content" on my bingo card. What is this timeline?!

Varg Vikernes somehow maintaining his position in the zeitgeist 30+ years after the only memorable thing he has ever done. How have successive generations found this creep and helped keep him relevant

i’ve been hyperfixated on this freak since i was 14 this is barely scratching the surface. he’s written multiple books about his interpretation of paganism, essentially creating his own religion, and a tabletop game that is too complex and nonsensical to be played because it is 6 volumes long, etc etc he’s INSANE.

JUST A FUN LITTLE FACT: THE INTRO TO NIRVANAS SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT IS A DISTORTION FREE, TINNIER, RIFF FROM VENOM'S COUNTESS BATHORY.

of all the sentences to have ever been written by mortal hands for the purposes of a youtube, I believe this one is the most insane. Thank you Daniel Profeta, very cool.

Varg, the guy that racists in the ttrpg scene point at and go "we can't be racists, Varg is the racist, we're just 'apolitical' and keeping 'politics out of rpgs'" but pretty sure there was video that went into Varg but as a sad character in a video about nazis in the ttrpg scene.

I really love how he's now a tiktok guy. Like, yeah, you killed a guy 30 years ago, you're not that special.

The reason you don't see creators on youtube talk about Varg is because you don't know where to look. There are a bunch of videos about Varg, they are usually by metal youtubers and creators adjacent to the scene. Metal is a relatively niche genre, especially its extreme sub-types like Black Metal, therefore, larger creators who do not know about this scene are less likely to look into it because their audience is probably not interested. Another point, outside of a minority of losers in the metal scene, most metal-heads know Varg for who he is: a racist lolcow with a violent past who should never be given attention outside of warning people about his nonsense and acknowledging he also happened to write some of the greatest black metal ever written and was one of the first dungeon synth artists.

On a side note, you have more in common with the Black Metal scene than you may realize: a bunch of those artists are massive LOTR nerds.

The whole time I was thinking "No way it's the same guy who killed Euronymous"
He's out and became Gandalf the Grand Wizard!?!
