My favourite HST story comes from a old work mate of mine that had worked at the RTC and knew of stories connected to the testing of the prototype HST. It seems that they wanted to know what would happen to the toilet waste at 125mph and so a plan was formulated whereby a bucket of watered down white emulsion paint was poured down the pan of the leading bog of the first coach. At 125mph said bog was flushed and the train inspected upon its return to the RTC.
The results were:
1, A very white front bogie of said coach.
2, White paint all over the underframe valance fairing, tapering up the bodyside of the first coach.
3, A generous misting of white on every door handle and grab handle along the whole length of the train.

Are you sure the particular shade of BROWN is actually brake dust ?

I have the old Lima offering, coaches and all, in the nearly started* box along with two power cars with Prototype HST 3d printed ends fitted to them partly painted. But I'm busy with wagons at the moment.
*Nearly started is a bit like nearly finished !

You've took this hobby to another level. 👍💯. My Dad bought me the original Hornby Inter City 125 in 1979. Just one coach included! But I loved it. I remember being obsessed with the lights and loved the smell of the oil and motor from the power car! Wonderful times.

Your weathering skills are on another level! I really enjoyed watching this knowing I will never actually try this on my own models. Fantastic.

I really enjoy these videos, Improving models with subtle weathering and picking details out.  My first 'Train Set' was Lima HST 2 car set, i still have it and will have a go a improving upgrading it.

Good evening Mr train man 😊 hope your ok 👍🏻 That was excellent tutorial on making a plane old HST look something like the real thing 😆 Run it once then show a real train. Just superb as always cheers Stevie 😊💖

This is indeed the Age of The Train.

You have forgotten the toilet paper splatter behind the bogies on the front of the skirts😂😂

Wow, thank you for that post. Took me back!

Next level work there ! I also had the original as a kid …I’ve no space for a roundy now so I have a barrier coach, old power car and a 31 to pull it ! I do however have a TT one which is cool

Remember seeing the first HST to pass through Peterborough station in 1976….treated with disdain by us train spotting lads, as we knew the HST was the writing on the wall for our beloved Deltic’s…..But the HST’s really became the saviour of the rail network 🩷🇬🇧👍

Very good and over the coming winter a project for me is to improve and weather my old hornby and lima HST power cars, this video will help with this,  a very enjoyable video.

Excellent weathering job. Brings it to life. ATB Stuart

Good to see your paint tins are just like mine!

Best job yet! Enjoyed all of it,I'm still new at weathering .

Hi there, new sub..thanks for the tips on weathering. 'the look' is more important than total accuracy(to me). I think you've done some great modelling there and i really liked the bridge...

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Just something about an HST in the Original InterCity125 blue and grey livery. That said Executive and Swallow also looked beautiful on them.

Anyone spot the derailment in the video 🤫 - Interesting video, and love the attention to detail such as disk brakes..

15:05 Just like Marmite then.

Excellent my friend ❤❤❤
