Hey guys! I’ve been getting a lot of comments asking if this video is a reuploaded from months or even years ago. I haven’t posted this video anywhere else before now, it is likely that someone else has covered this topic in the past and for whatever reason privated or deleted their video. The Thumbnail was also made by me in Canva :) I would never steal someone else’s thumbnail for a video.

MLP is very popular (and so is Luna lol) so it’s likely the video you guys might be thinking of was made by another creator. 🌙✨

As a child, I wondered why the fandom was so obsessed with Luna. It took 8 years for me to realize this episode was an allegory for SH.

The tantabalis returning to her in the end is so symbolic, it is apart of her.
Like showing it REALLY IS her hurting herself, not just some monster

I really hate when people view the tantabus as luna’s “child” or “baby” when it’s a nuanced antagonist created by herself.

and the fact that the tantabus was using swords and scissors to cut through lunas magic ☹️

I only wish Celestia was in the episode as well, I would have loved to see her console Luna and helping her with her struggles as well.

Another part I love about the episode is the only way Luna is able to find it in herself to forgive because her self harm begins to affect the people around her, which I'd say is also an underappreciated representation of what SH is

This is why she's my favorite. Her character felt real and relatable to many people

I feel like another good representation is rockhoof when he wanted to be turned to stone because he believed he had no purpose in the modern day equestria.

As someone with depression, I’ve also been a fan of Luna since I was a kid. I wanna hug her so bad

I was just thinking about this episode the other day I kid you not. I’m a bit slow so it never occurred to me that this is considered SH. Thanks for covering this! Good video

Its so cool to see this interpretation in the show, because SH can come in MANY forms, not just physically harming yourself with cutting, she was literally GIVING herself nightmares as a punishment as put in one episode

I understood the ep as self inflicted guilt and how it affects yourself and others (with the fear of spreading and how it actually spread around Ponyville), and how letting go of that guilt is crucial for healing, but the SH allegory also works a ton too.

“Lmao SH in this cute little show? Maybe it’s a satire” I watch a few episodes of MLP when I was a teen and thought not much of it. Now I got a big spoiler in my face and a huge urge to give this show a second chance lmao

Starlight jokes about her past often as a coping mechanism. Making light of what she saw as horrible.

That one animation of Luna taking all the orphaned foals away to a safer place really stuck with me back then. Pretty sure it was made before this episode, but it really made me realize just how much Luna cares for others

I just HATE the fact that throughout the show even though the ponies in Equestria have accepted her back, that they still don't really respect her as much as Celestia, they only bow to her once where the other princesses get bowed down to multiple times.
I also kinda find it annoying that the show makes it to where Twilight seems more powerful than Luna despite Luna being an ancient alicorn.
And lastly, the fact that everyone says that Luna was JEALOUS of Celestia which she wasn't! She WAS wanting the same equal attention that others willingly gave to Celestia and wouldn't give to her despite on them being "Equal" rulers.

Luna and starlight’s relationship is just beautiful to me, especially since they’re my two favorite characters

Do princesses dream of magic sheep genuinely made me sob the first time I watched it. Luna from the start has ALWAYS been my favorite. but seeing her struggle with the same things as me has been a blessing in disguise. Obviously I dont want her to suffer but to feel seen but someone who I grew up loving, even in just a kids tv show, literally changed things for me I think.

Luna is Best Pony confirmed
