It's crazy how much blood, gore and cleavage there was in 90s comics but they came down so hard on two black teenagers alluding to having consensual sex.

Meanwhile Deathstroke the child-predator is getting a new ongoing series...again.

Yup. MILESTONE hasn't been anywhere near the same since that. Suppressed at every turn. Its fucking sad

@jaredgarcia8638 7 months ago

Honestly, I subscribe to this belief. I believe Milestone and their characters have the potential to not only resonate with readers but also eclipse most of DCs characters in popularity. Sure Superman and Batman are household names that every generation knows about, but milestone in terms of the times are culturally relevant that could eclipse them in popularity and give a message that the old guard could never say about society

Glasses wearer here, can confirm if your partner takes your glasses off its going down

Dc has always been hypocritical when it comes to love and sex. From Static, Batwoman to Batman. Dc has always been the most hypocritical company ever when it comes to the depictions of sex and love

Pay the artists. DC could have had Static, Black Lightning, Steel, Rock, Icon Anasi established before the Black Panther and it all comes down to paying creatives.

You can always tell the people who are familiar with this character based on the cartoon or from the comic. If they know him from the comic, they'll call him Static if they know him from the cartoon, they'll say Static Shock. Either way, they know the character. And hopefully they like the character.

Them saltines was mad because black love looks so genuinely good.

7:41 this is the same issue we have in Chicago. smart students are forced into terrible schools because of their zip code. It’s actually sad.

Bro the part when static rode a bike with no tires with his powers just like he does with a trash can lid was awesome

😮never let the haters get to you blerd. Your videos are much more helpful to me than Comicsexplained because you give indie creators a chance to shine, especially black creators.

@Alexander-J-A-76 7 months ago

it was the right time for that comic. Image Comics was publishing titles with storylines involving pregnancy, motherhood, or mature themes during the same mid-1990s era that Static #25 (July 1995) featured the controversial storyline regarding Virgil having coitus

This is crazy. Some people didn't get these talks. This is nice to see. I would have loved this as a kid.

This is great work. I'm a 47 yr old blerd. I've been into Milestone from the beginning. This was such adept analysis and spot on commentary. I can show this video to my wife and it will fully explain the story of Milestone and DC better and faster than I could. I appreciate all of your videos and I'm grateful to have folks like you in this space.

Fantastic! I’d love to see more Milestone videos like this that go in depth on the real world history while summarizing a book

RIP Dwayne McDuffie . Part of me feels a like things would be a bit different if he was still around and comic book adjacent media definitely misses him.

I bought my copy of the Dakota incident 💯💪🏾

As an Educator and someone who was previous a teenager. Children do think about sex after a certain age. Parents shouldn’t be horrified,!because it’s natural. Yes even on the young girls end(is female)
