The X-Men & Black America Connection... In this video, we take a deep dive into the connection between X-Men and the Black American experience. The X-Men have always explored themes of prejudice, discrimination, fear, acceptance, and how an oppressed group should respond to a society that fears them.

We’ll look at the similarities between Professor X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as Magneto and Malcolm X, while also breaking down why these comparisons aren’t as simple as they’re often presented. From their different approaches to discrimination and self-defense to the experiences that shaped their beliefs, there’s much more to the conversation than “Professor X = MLK” and “Magneto = Malcolm X.”

We’ll also explore the history behind these parallels, including segregation, integration, Black economic independence, thriving Black communities, racial violence, government surveillance, the Civil Rights Movement, and the different philosophies Black leaders proposed for achieving freedom and equality.
