Video on my second channel about Ghost of Yotei- https://youtu.be/eu1NmXlo51c

“Oh, Cyberpunk is average...? Interesting, I can't wait to hear what he has to say!”

The clips he show from his gameplay: skip dialogue, skip dialogue, skip dialogue....

"Huh wonder why."

I get that people find Cyberpunk 2077's RPG elements shallow and weak, but saying the gameplay is mediocre, the world is not interesting and poorly voice-acted is certainly a weird hot take. But hey, it is your opinion.

Mike Pondsmith explained in a lot of videos where the slang in Cyberpunk comes from, it's not "just edgy." It's forty-fifty years of history.

Edit: I posted this over 2 months ago, and to expand on it:
Slang isn't "edgy." Slang is how a society communicates.

Ok I agree with a lot of what he said for cyberpunk  but using a smart sniper without the hand implant is crazy work lol

So one thing I'm noticing and maybe this may be why you may not have gotten RPGs in the first place, I know I had this trouble when I got into them, is that it's a ROLE playing game. You're supposed to play as if you were the character, get immersed in the world and be in the game, I had this problem where I'd play an RPG and focus on stats and how I can beat beat the game, and hated when games gave me openness and didn't point me where to go or what to do. But once I started playing as my characters and getting into them it really helped me get into a new level of immersion of the games, and I think that could really help with games like cyberpunk that have their own vocabulary and have their own really really in depth lore and very unique characters.

I'll point out the clip you showed of a sniper rifle when you were discussing the poor gun feel it was what's known as a "smart" weapon, which requires a smart link to use effectively. Trying to use one without a smart link will feel pretty awful, not saying this to dismiss your complaints entirely, I personally think the gun play is fine, but you're definitely not the only one who thinks it's pretty mediocre.

Can’t wait for the RPGs suck again video in 9 months

I also have a huge aversion to rpgs 😄 I decided to finally try Cyberpunk about two years ago just because I love the cyberpunk genre. I fully expected to not enjoy the gameplay, but that maybe the story and world could get me through.

It took me three tries to get into the game. Everything is so sluggish at first. You move slow, you shoot like shit, you can't do anything. My third time playing, I made it to the title card and I was HOOKED on the story. That was like 5h in. Over time, the game actually became my favorite action game and still has the best movement I've ever experienced in an fps (I say that as someone who doesn't play tons of games).

Phantom Liberty was incredible for both story and characters, and I really loved the acting. The game has made me open to other action rpgs and I'm still hoping to find one ine day I can enjoy as much.

All that's just to share my experience though. Sometimes you just don't vibe with a game, sometimes you're not in the mood, sometimes they just don't feel right and that's obviously cool lol

such a well made video, if not for that cyberpunk review....

I put my SteamDeck down when I heard you say CyberPunk is average.
I'm dead.

Calls Cyberpunk mid with game journalist standards:
》Skips dialogue
》Only has footage up to "Life During War Time" and "The Space in Between" (these are 2 of the earliest act 2 main missions)
》Uses pre 2.0  footage of "Riders on the Storm" meaning you didn't even get that far
》And this footage of "Riders on the Storm" isn't your own but you use it as an example of bad dialogue
》Uses a smart sniper without a smart link and calls it broken
》No signs of playing beyond level 16
》Only has 15 street cred (meaning you engaged with little to none of the side content)
》No evidence of using a OS (limiting gameply)

This man can diss on two of my favorite games and still hold my full attention. Keep up the great work.

Edit: If you end up liking BG3, give WH40k Rogue Trader a try. That's the path I took and I thoroughly enjoy both. Just keep in mind that RT has quite a few different systems and they can often be very complex. I still don't get half the game

Fantastic video… After playing Kingdom come deliverance 2, I started expedition 33, but after about 15 hours I started a second play through KCD2 on hard-core mode. I will go back to finish E33 at some point, but for the moment I’m just enjoying being in medieval Bohemia

Witcher 3 and CP2077 are like my top 2 fav games. Don’t know how to feel 😂

Brother go watch some Cyberpunk gameplay compilations. You can remote hack vehicles to infiltrate and detonate, pick up dudes and toss people around and gorilla slam em, warp around the air slicing shit in a million pieces, and yet here you are somehow missing with a smart sniper from 10 feet away. lol

You know, I agree with most of what you said about Cyberpunk. The gameplay is quite mediocre, the dialogue can get boring or crigey, the driving, compared to something like GTA, is, well... not great, lol.
But, Cyberpunk will forever remain one of those games that sticks with me till the day I die, purely because no other game has made me feel like I'm in it's world as much as this one did. The art direction, the world design, the sheer amount of details - it all makes the world feel alive, and you like you're living inside it. Sometimes it's about going around your business, hearing musing and going to investigate only to find a gang of veterans partying and get invited to shoot some targets with them. And sometimes it's about simply stopping and looking around you and seeing that every single pixels around you screams "Night City". The verticality of it, the ads, the NPC models, the screens and lighting, and... Just, everything, man. If nothing else, this game is a masterclass in environmental storytelling.
Granted, I'm also a fan of cyberpunk as a genre, so maybe that's one of the reasons being transported into this specific world affected me so much. But oh well, I can see how it might not click for other people.

maybe watching edgerunners anime get you used to the slang and lore stuff about cyberpunk?
great video btw subbed

Really good video! It's very thoughtful and well written and I really enjoyed listening overall. There are a couple of points I wanted to get back and react to though, so comment might be a bit long and rambly, but I'll do my best to structure it in a digestible manner.

First, previous and somewhat present you struggling to understand how people can enjoy games with bad gameplay is exactly how I feel, but with folks who enjoy games with shit stories. It has everything to do with how and especially why you play video games, what experience you're into. For me, RPGs are the ultimate escapism but rather questionable entertainment and even poorer distraction where most other types of video games are a lot more successful. There's just nothing quite as immersive and gripping as a good RPG, like reading a literary masterpiece that also happens to be a brick of a book. It's about the stories and the world that can be found within that is unmatched in any other video game genre.

Second, yes, I 100% agree with your biggest issue with Expedition 33! The ending also is for me the part I disliked the most by far about the game despite how brilliant I recognize it to be. I think overall Act 3 has several issues and believe the execution to be somewhat poor, but I think the game remains an absolute masterpiece and one of the best game ever made.

Third, hearing your take on Cyberpunk and what I can get from your experience with The Witcher III, it sounds to me like you're just not quite ready for CDPR's flavor of RPGs and I think that's perfectly fine as it is, though I think you might want to come back to them eventually, like maybe in 5-10 years or when you feel like it's the time. I say that because many of the criticisms you raise towards the game don't really say anything about the game itself. My response is actually too long for me to upload in a single comment, so I'll add my reasoning towards Cyberpunk in a following comment if ever you want to understand why people like the game so much from my perspective as a thorough enjoyer of the game!

The second playthrough of expedition 33 is mind blowing story wise and cranking the damage numbers up by knowing what you're doing is fun :) highly recommend
