I feel like people forget that ludwig, was a competitive melee player back in the day. Not saying that these are identical. But he’s fully aware and capable of competing in a fighting game. While not being as high rank, he definitely has more experience in fighting games

Ludwig was training in the mountains and nobody knew it haha

What was really funny was that even at his pools table, Tyler was asking his opponents what their MR was in ranked. He let the online rank of his opponents in an IRL tournament dictate his mindset going into each set, and he let it either intimidate him, or inflate his ego. I get that Tyler's whole gimmick is the act he puts on for his stream, but that was really funny to see.

Tyler1 blocked everyone but couldn't block a jump-in 😂

“Lud cheesed him with a knowledge check” brother the knowledge was hold back to block

Someone in the live chat said the Ludwig cheesed T1 because he practiced before the match. I'm absolutely flabberghasted

Thats why Guile says: "No holding back", becauss Tyler couldnt do that against Jump Ins

Just thought I'd stop by and offer some insights/clarifications.

15:30 This being safe against Guile super while Guile is in burnout was something we talked about specifically. Marisa can also cancel the TC into phalanx to go over the super, and that was something we had also prepared.

16:40 Charging OD Gladius at that footsies range is good not only because it will catch Tyler reacting with OD Flash Kick, but it also catches most of Guile's pokes, including OD Sonic Boom.

18:50 We had prepared an answer for Guile 2MK as an adaptation against Marisa Gladius: 5HK. Marisa 5HK has minor low crush properties and will PC into a huge combo. If you watch the set, you'll see Ludwig fishing with 5HK pretty often, but it wasn't fruitful because Tyler wasn't aware he should adapt to pushing 2MK to combat the Gladius.

20:52 Not that he always stuck to it, but one of the things we had worked on was to only use phalanx if Guile was walking back and had lost down charge. Of course, you can still interrupt the phalanx with things like stand jab, but without charge, Guile's reward off of the forced knockdown state isn't that high. We were also aware that Tyler's success rate on using flash kick against phalanx wasn't as high as one would expect.

26:37 One sequence we had discussed was that, after the safe jump is blocked, we are +11, however, if Guile stood up to block the safe jump, he does not have charge to flash kick afterwards, and, because Tyler does not jump to avoid throws, command grab after the blocked safe jump would be almost unavoidable for Tyler. Of course, Guile can parry the safe jump, but that is vulnerable to empty jump throw.

30:20 You can go for the same ender after H Dima as well, but it results in +41. This means it will not be safe against light DP/Flash Kick, but, notably, the modern input for flash kick gives Guile the medium version, so unless Tyler was willing to do the classic input, that would also yield a safe jump.

33:45 The decision not to use other supers was a conscious one. I didn't want to slow down Ludwig's decision making by having to figure out which combo ender to route into.

36:28 This was the crux of our strategy. I knew we could afford to take risks because of the damage disparity.

36:52 Does a coach proud to hear his words echoed on the big stage.

Thanks for the shout out, too.

As some commentor once said, tyler grinded, ludwig trained

What really hits about the plays Lud is making is that he's doing it on Classic ON LEVERLESS. He had to actually learn how this stuff works to pull these off and I love that. I remember him saying in that AT&T Cup thing that he didn't want to play Modern because it was "scrub shit" and didn't actually earn him anything. Now that he has prep-time and isn't bogged by hosting a billion events he actually showed what happens when he locks in.

The empty hops, the bait punishes, his parry game, his situational awareness for Gladius. Some good work right there

22:22 This is so nice to see. Genuinely outplayed.

not rematching people who beat you and blocking people who beat you often is the best way to stunt your own growth.  terrible way to improve.

I'm only 16 minutes in and I'm already impressed by just how many "small things" Ludwig studied, like the frame gap after MP, MP, block can bait out Guile's S1 on burnout.

Tyler1s weakness is heys a frieza soldier that judges power levels.

I'm actually genuinely flabbergasted that someone can make it to high master without understanding the concept of blocking jump-ins.

This is why you don't One-And-Done on your climb.

The saddest part about this is that T1 is gonna learn nothing about this and keep mashing til he gets to 1800 or die trying

Lud used to play and commentate melee, I'm not surprised.

Poor Tyler1 couldn't one-and-done after the first loss

That match was rigged against Tyler1. He wasn't able to use his patented "one-and-done" technique with a first to 10.
