Someday, I remember something Daigo once said on stream.
At the time, he was playing Dark Souls for the first time, and he kept getting beaten, even by the very first enemy.
He wasn’t used to the game, and his controls were shaky.

After getting defeated around ten times, he quietly muttered,
“You know, when I first started fighting games, it was just like this.”

He said it so casually.
But I still can’t forget those words.

Daigo isn’t a genius. He’s someone who worked for everything he has.
He’s like a boy who never betrayed what he loved.

That’s why people respect him and recognize him.
It’s not just because he’s strong.
He’s a man who embodies what it means to sincerely devote yourself to one thing as a person.

Even if he loses this first-to-ten, my respect for him won’t waver in the slightest.

I saw a 7 car pile up on the side of the highway while driving to my weekly SF6 local. They were all huddled around one person’s phone. Not sure what they were watching though.

Thank you for posting the video. There isn’t even a Japanese video that explains Daigo’s past achievements and the background of his ft10 match with MenaRD in such a detailed and easy-to- grasp way.
I came to the US from Japan to study abroad and I’ve never felt so glad that I’ve learned English so far. I’m happy to see that culture I love is spreading around the world, and that my hype for this match isn’t just mine or Japan’s, but shared globally. And you helped to do so.

Yo brian thanks for dropping this video, I was on my way to pick up a wrecked car in my tow truck. Now I have something to listen to while I haul it back

The combo of Tokido's "I can't even see his back from where I am" and Daigo's "How could I possibly lose?" is unreal

Yo brian thanks for dropping this video, I was on my way home and crashed my car on the highway. Now I have something to watch in the ambulance

The simple reason why people fear the Beast in FT10 is his consistency and fortitude to fight every single round in the set like it's his first one. Worse, once he's played you long enough in a single set he has your FAQ downloaded, memorized, and labbed out in his head. FGC champions can be great for three rounds. Daigo stays good for nineteen.

Dang... If I had money to spare, I'd send some your way. It definitely deserves it. I watch your content since SF5 and I wasn't even a street fighter player until, like, 10 months ago.
Thank you so much for sharing your passion Brian.

"That man is the embodiment of all fighting game history." Not only that quote gave me chills but also shows me how Tokido always has the right words to describe fighting games.

Yo Brian, i gotta drive for a while. Can you drop the vid 10 mins early

@98-carlmarkmarak22 5 months ago

you can win 5 evos but it will never be as iconic as Daigo parry

“Daigo will probably lose.” Everyone thinks so.
In a best-of-two or best-of-three match, that would likely be the case, judging by his recent results.
But this is a best-of-ten match—a format widely recognized as the best way to gauge a player’s true ability in fighting games.
Even now, many people still believe, “Daigo can do it.”
This might be his last serious match. Win or lose, we’ll get to see the true essence of his fighting game career.

We live in a society where now, winning a championship or gold medal once isn’t enough. People often will criticize you for “falling off” after a massive win. Daigo has always proven himself, many times and through many championships. Nothing else to prove. No one can judge him for wanting to compete, even if he’s not at his peak. Who are we to judge? Legend.

"That line in the sand drawn by the claw of the beast" is an generationally hard quote, this is an awesome video my man

In Japan, people have talked the story why players who knew Daigo would bet on him. But this is the first video I’ve seen that explains, with detailed footage and context, the premise that Daigo wasn’t performing especially well in tournaments at the time — and then shows how the ending completely overturned that expectation.
