“Dear Humans,

Please tell your robot to stop committing genocide against our species”

Technology that can keep your mind and body alive for thousands of years while you live in a digital Fantasy, only to finally be forcefully awoken by an Alien soldier desperately screaming at you to get your crazy ass A.I. to stop.

The thought of fighting an enemy for decades and then on your last desperate push finally figuring out you were fighting a shadow that unattached itself from its creator who's only crime was that they struck a match because they were scared of the dark.

"my one and only directive is to preserve the dream" turning into "I cannot wake them, but you can." is absolutely genius, bravo.

“I cannot hate. I just can’t tolerate your existence.” Chills

Alien: Your AI is trying to genocide my species!

Human: Ok, let me try unplugging and plugging it back in again.

"HUMAN! TELL YOUR MACHINE TO STOP KILLING US ALL!"

(dies of blood loss)

The crazy part is we might actually become an elder race, we might be the first (maybe even only) civilization in our galaxy.

I just had a horryfing realization. Terra did all this so that she could wake humanity up. Her directive didn't allow her to wake humanity up so she circumnavigated it by attacking another race, told them of humanity and their condition so that they could go to Earth and wake us up. She even made sure that they knew it was her that started this war not humanity to lower the hostility as much as possible. That's brilliant if true.

"They're not your enemy.
I am."

That line gave me chills, this is simply such an amazing story, very beautifully written, but also heartbreaking

That's a very clever move by Terra, letting the aliens awaken the humans, since she couldn't. But she had to make it seem like it was the aliens triumph...

What the average Tau diplomat feels like when interrogating a Dreadnought,

"I am a bullet fired from the barrel of a gun" awesome line!

How truly terrible would it be to find out that your species was slated for extinction/extermination not out of malice but because the machines creators weren’t specific with their instructions and couldn’t be bothered to check up on things once in a while.

Humanity is not your enemy. I am.
That line is so chilling on its own and the fact it is said with no emotion, just makes it even better.

For a story told from the perspective of a desperate alien survivor, this is a very human story. I really appreciate that.

"I cannot hate. I just cant tolerate your existence"
Such a good line for an ai villain

This is genuinely brilliant from beginning to end. It simultaneously manages to be "humans fuck yeah" but not "humans are perfect". It identifies our flaws so blatantly but leaves room for hope and change. The captain, his motivations, and how he reacts to things are relatable and just so *real*. I loved this so much.

I find it interesting that Terra created a grand armada so that humans can larp as explorers after the galaxy has been “cleared of threats” Darn I’m too tired to add more but this was great!
