Thank you for watching, player.

"To tell them how to live is to prevent them from living."

For 12 years i played this game and never once did i realize something so beautiful existed within

And the universe said; “I love you”, because you are loved.

I didn’t realize Minecraft had this deep of a meaning. It made me cry

"You are the player."

"Wake up."

I love how this video game is controlled by the perspective of 8 year olds but speaks like a perspective of a 80 year old man.

Minecraft gave us such sublime spiritual teachings and we all just missed it

To YouTube: Got an ad right at 5:33 and it completely ruined the whole effect. YouTube fix your scam ad situation I don’t want a robot puppy

I'm not gonna lie, I skimmed over the words as a kid. Nowadays I cry reading it.

"those thousand deaths had not been real. the player was alive" hits like a truck

honestly…… I felt like this should be the minecraft movie.

This exact video is the reason why i wish you could repost on youtube. i really enjoyed watching this at 11:30 at night. healed me little from my broken feed and messed up sleep schedule.

"Have you seen steve"
Yes
"Is he in the nether"
No
"Is he in the ocean"
No
"Is he in the overworld"
No

"Where is he then "

"He grew up"

One of the biggest regrets of my life is accidentally skipping the end poem after I first beat the ender dragon

I'm helping my son gear now for the ender dragon fight. I can't wait for his first experience of this. He knows the poem exists but has not read it as in his words, I want our world to end together, read it together, and build again on it together. So here's to trying to read this to my son after and not cry haha.

Update: been a while since I wrote this post. We beat the ender dragon together, he saw the poem as I read it to him. Now, On to the the new dream. Have a good dream everyone.

Edit: Two years.

I had honestly forgotten that I wrote this.

My son and I are still playing, although it has evolved into mods now. Hell of a learning curve for me, but I finally got everything working. We are playing ATM 10 now.

So many bosses. So many buildings. So many days...

So little time.

To those who might see this sometime in the future and have that little world of their own, that bright star in their life, never blink. Never avert your eyes. Because it feels like you look away for one second and somehow miss so much.

Find something. Anything. It doesn't have to be Minecraft. Just find something that lets you be there with them.

Not stuck on the TV. Not staring at your phone while they're beside you. I mean seriously be there.

We play video games, yes, but we play them together.

And that's why Minecraft means so much more to me than just a game.

This started with my second child, my little pride, my first son, while I was stationed thousands of miles away in Korea. I couldn't physically be there with him, so Minecraft became somewhere that I could be. We could enter this little world together and, for a while, those thousands of miles didn't matter quite as much.

Now, years later, that little world we shared has somehow grown.

My wife and daughter have joined us. My youngest son is finally getting old enough to play and is already showing an extreme interest in joining us.

Something that started because a father desperately wanted a way to spend time with his son while thousands of miles away has become a full family affair.

And I cannot adequately describe what that means to me.

I loved this game because it gave me a world where I could be with my son even when I was physically separated from him.

Now I get to sit back and watch that same little boy teach his sister how to play Minecraft “properly,” as he puts it. My wife and I get to watch all the ridiculous, funny, incredible things they do and create together. And sometimes I realize that I'm not just watching them play Minecraft.

I'm watching the thing I started with him continue without me having to carry it anymore.

He carries it now, too.

Currently, my son and I are gearing up my wife and daughter for their first Ender Dragon fight.

The first time that dragon died by my hand, I was happy.

The second time, with my son beside me, it was joy.

This third time, standing there with my wife, my son, and my daughter, I think it will be rapture.

And someday, when my youngest is finally ready, all five of us will make that journey together.

When that dragon falls and all five of us are standing there, I think that will finally be the true ending of Minecraft for me.

Not because there is nothing left to build.

Not because there are no more bosses to fight.

Not because we've finally beaten the game.

But because I will have completed the goal I unknowingly started all those years ago in Korea.

I found a way to be there.

First for one little boy.

Then for all of them.

And maybe that's the funny thing about Minecraft. The End was never really the end. It was always just another beginning.

So keep a pickaxe handy. Keep a totem at hand. And above everything else, keep love in your heart.

Be safe out there because one day you will place your last block. Fight your last boss. Close your last world.

And when that day comes, I don't think you'll remember how much diamond you found or how enormous your base was.

You'll remember who was standing beside you while you built it.

And even when you're no longer playing Minecraft, you're still the player in your own story.

Make it a happy one.

"the universe said, I love you"
"The universe said, I love you because you are love"
"To tell someone how to live, is to prevent them from living"
Oh my god. These are some of the best lines I've ever heard. Thank you Minecraft.

bro a 12 min video made me rethink the last 10 years wtf

"and the universe said i love you, because you are love" BRO. 😭😭

"And the universe said 'I love you', because you are loved."
I did not know how much I needed to hear that until that line made me start to cry
