That final draw shot is very impressive and really proved your point regarding the elbow drop. I also saw a video where a gentleman performed that famous draw by Mike Massey without any elbow drop whatsoever. interestingly enough Massey claimed that the elbow drop was necessary but the gentleman disproved it.

Preach it!. So many players are convinced a long follow through is necessary for big action.

Well done! I too have been playing 40+ years and have only recently started trying to change to no elbow drop. It's hard to change but I am seeing results. I am able to strike the cue ball lower than ever before. A lot lower. This allows for more spin with less power. Before I would miscue if I hit too far towards the edge of the cueball. But the smoother stroke without elbow drop allows for better cueing.

What has been very enlightening for me is the use of my phone to take videos of my practice. It shows me my bad habits that I never knew I had. The eye in the sky don't lie! And it's so easy now to take quality vids with phones. I encourage everyone who wants to improve to do it.

Thanks for making this video. Ive had a little instruction and was video recorded by some trainers. It helped to see myself and how bad my movements were. So now im missing more shots while concentrating on accuracy of movement. Because its a big change. I also am putting my chin more centered to the cue stick. All of which is hard. But i believe with more time practicing the right way i will get more consistent vs only shooting good half the time doing it the wrong way.

Thanks for sharing such invaluable info.  I try so hard not to drop the elbow but when I check my videos, I am usually disappointed seeing an obvious drop and a chicken wing at best. I started to keep the shoulder firm and still, and that helped quite a bit. no shouider  movement  for me means no elbow drop. Thanks for your input.

I've been battling elbow drop as well and I'm starting to make some progress.   One player who I think has one of the most beautiful strokes in the game is Chris Melling.   His snooker-style piston stroke is so smooth and graceful, and seems effortless in his hands as well.   If I could come anywhere close to that, I'd be really happy.   Anyway, thanks for a great video!
