I went there the other week with my sister and it was a fascinating look into someone's life from a bygone era. Mrs Toward kept her flat pristine and the National Trust guides who were present when we visited were really knowledgeable about the history of the place and very friendly, i really liked the enthusiasm of the older lady guide
Indeed Paul that was great . I know about it and visited it many years ago. I still have some of these bottles, utensils, of that era . Chex moi in France. Just lovely. Thank you for the memory xx
Agreed with your comments at the end about it being middle class. Most of the tenement flats at that time in the poorer areas didn't have inside toilets. There was shared toilet half way down the close which the whole close had to share. My husband has told me stories of him as a kid, having to creep down the close stairs at night, freezing cold, to go to the loo.
Merci pour votre vidéo j’ai aimé visiter cette belle maison 🏠 du passé toujours étonnant de voir comme les gens qui avaient les moyens vivaient dans le luxe ! Merci 🙏 🏴🇧🇪👍
i love seeing and hearing stories of the past history my late grandmother and her siblings lived in west street and got moved to the gorbals due to the war so i used to love hearing their stories which they told me and my cousins daily lol

omg, the recess with the bed. My mother in law had this exact same set up her tenement flat when she was 1st married. Also love the tiles in the close as you entered. We have very similar tiles in our close as well
