Yes a very different world back then! We had nothing but each other.I was born 1960 so 60s was my childhood through to 70s as a teenager then a young adult in the eighties when my career began .. many great memories of my native city Glasgow.

The only thing that did flourish was ordinary Glaswegians capacity to endure everything life could throw at them... A sad and poignant reminder of hardship and toil

Glasgow being the second city of the empire some lived in despair poverty, my own grandfather who fought in the first world war had no shoes as a child, and had to leave school at 12, he taught himself to read and write properly in one of Andrew Carnegies librarys. I think your channels fantastic keep up the good work

It was great seeing old photos and in much of my youth I remember some of these buildings and streets. It would have been good to know what photos showed where it was of. I am not from Glasgow but my parents/ grandparents would have known more of the locations. Very interesting to see them anyway. Historically it brought youthful memories back when I was young all those years ago.
Notice there’s not as much traffic!

Absolutely brilliant. I can't thank you enough for this. Things like this mean more than you will ever know. PS. Whoever picked the music for this deserves a cuddle lol. Absolutely sublime ❤.

A couple of good photos of the old St Andrews Halls there, sadly lost to us in 1962. The start of the major decline imo, the trams went then also, and the Empire and Alhambra theatres too..

Wow! Amazing collection of photos, thankyou. ‘Get up the road’ was what I’d say to my boys if we were out somewhere and they’d done something wrong and I was about to give them ‘what’s for’, once we were home🤭.

Thank you, U-E! EXCELLENT, leaving me with a wee tear here and there, especially the auld Springburn photographs!

Also, many thanks for your time, effort and creation of this precious collection.

Bye for now. Rab 👋 ✝
