Greg Alba & Andrew Gordon dive deep into the iconic fashion-world classic as we revisit Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep — Sophie’s Choice, Mamma Mia, Don’t Look Up), Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway — The End of Oak Street, Les Misérables, The Dark Knight Rises), Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt — Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place), Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci — The Hunger Games, Spotlight), Nate (Adrian Grenier — Entourage), and the entire Runway Magazine chaos ahead of the newly announced The Devil Wears Prada 2! We break down every legendary moment — from “That’s all,” the Cerulean monologue, the Paris Fashion Week betrayal, Miranda’s divorce revelation, Andy’s makeover montage, the Runway editorial politics, to Andy finally tossing her phone in the fountain. We also talk fashion symbolism, character arcs, toxic workplace themes, and why this film remains one of the most fiercely quoted movies ever made. Whether you're searching for Devil Wears Prada reaction, Miranda Priestly breakdown, Andy Sachs analysis, or Devil Wears Prada 2 updates, this commentary has you covered with humor, insight, and full fan-favorite appreciation.

“Another mr. Priestly? She’s so full of herself”
No, she’s accurate. You still don’t get just how important she is. That would be the headline, no matter who she’s married to.

The real villain in this film is Andy's boyfriend and her friends, and that's a hill I will die on

@G0dsPerfectldiot 10 months ago

Emily may not be the nicest co-worker but she never sabotaged Andy and actually guided her along the way.

Nate being called an understanding, supportive boyfriend, was not on my bingo card lol 💀

a moment i never see anyone talk about enough is when Andy passes up meeting an editor for the new york times because she’s already so late to Nate’s birthday. the characters are telling us she’s becoming this selfish, career obsessed woman but the movie isn’t saying that at all

Stanley Tucci is just a gem. He’s a scene stealer and he’s so much fun.

In truth...I think Miranda would never let Nigel go. He is probably THE ONLY PERSON in that ENTIRE PLACE that she feels she can COMPLETELY trust without any hesitation. He thinks like her...practically finishes her every sentence...he knows what is right for the magazine. Why would she give him up? He is an important component to that place.

“No, shan’t” has been a staple in my vocabulary ever since.

As a millennial, this movie inadvertently shaped the groundwork for what my work ethic and professional boundaries would eventually become. Watching Andy navigate such a complex, high-pressure world as a young person was honestly foundational. She pushed herself beyond her limits, tested who she could be, and still never lost sight of who she was.

That arc — figuring out what you’re capable of while also realizing what you don’t want your life to become — has been a guiding light for me in my own career. This movie is a reminder that success means nothing if it costs you your values, your relationships, or yourself. Maturity is also realizing her friends were energy vampires who are were incapable of celebrating wins that aren't theirs! Also relatable.

It is unironically one of the most unexpectedly formative films of my life.

i really don’t understand why they made her boyfriend a chef when that’s one of the most demanding jobs ever and notorious for them to be married to their work so idk why he’s so mad that she does the same

@palamedes4740 10 months ago

Andy told Nate exactly what it was: 1 year. If he didn't want to deal with it, he should've bailed then, but she made her boundary clear. So for him to still act all shocked and impatient, in my opinion, is unwarranted.

"the coolest, most understanding boyfriend" said no one ever 😭 they might be the first people i've seen that not only agreed with nate but they praised him lol! also someone else said it in a comment and i agree, sometimes it's better if you just watch and enjoy the movie instead of trying to guess what's going to happen every 10 minutes 😬

@hellomarjory 10 months ago

thinking Nate is a nice understanding boyfriend is such a red flag lol

@Salocinist 10 months ago

Omg we found them. The only Nate stans in the entire internet.

@olavihekandjo2928 10 months ago

You two making the whole movie about her boyfriend, while knowing how everyone hates him is the funniest thing ever

@itsreeeshaaa3650 10 months ago (edited)

My favorite Meryl Streep performance. She’s utterly flawless.

@littlepiggin 10 months ago

so if Miranda is full of herself for calling her husband Mr. Priestly, are men who expect their wives to take their last name full of themselves too? 🤔
also, Andy definitely has major prioritisation issues among other things, but her friends were 🍆 for chucking her phone around right after she gave them 2k in gifts, which were courtesy of the job they were endangering

@Iblamecarlos_ 10 months ago

Emily isn’t a “bitch.” She’s someone who has dedicated her whole life to this industry. Fashion isn’t a pastime for her it’s her passion and the career she’s built from the ground up.
Even though she’s cold toward Andy at first she still trains her, guides her, and never once sabotages her. She’s one of the few characters who truly takes the job and Miranda’s expectations seriously. Reducing her to just being mean completely misses why her frustration and her loyalty are so important.

@NYCBadgerGirl8 10 months ago (edited)

The way I see it... Nate is NOT the "definition of an understanding boyfriend" or "the nicest guy". He rarely supported her choices and was nothing but a whiny, judgmental baby the whole time. (and Adrian Grenier agrees🙂)
