Correction at 16:02 little duck does in fact reference the comic. Thank you scribes for bringing that to my attention.
This does bring up a question though. Do you think this information causes a plot hole considering what happens in the comic vs. the game? Imo It does but I'd like to hear what you guys think.

I'd argue that Warframe is actually more like Frank Herbert's Dune, in which EVERY faction and race has its roots in humanity. Frank Herbert loved to talk about man's adaptability around symbols and ideals. Warframe is very much that very same concept. There  are no Aliens, for we are the first.

16:02 correction. Little duck makes a subtle nod towards it in one of her greeting lines. Something like: "Been seeing a lot more of your kind around, since a certain incident with blind girl and a void gate". but otherwise, yeah, nothing.

Holy shit, a massive well put together video from a small channel? My favorite!

The queens both are, and are not, the top of the Grineer hierarchy. They are genetically and mentally disposed to require Orokin command, but we see some of the earliest Grineer after the Orokin collapse be able to resist. The Grineer Council actually run things, but they require the queens as figureheads because of their "programming".

The only Grineer the queens seem to have direct command over are the Kuva faction - functioning somewhat as their praetorian guard. The others fall under those like Sargas Ruk (seemingly in charge of Mars and Saturn), Vay Hek (Earth, Ceres shipyards, and much of the navy), or Tyl Regor (Uranus labs). Kela de Thaym may be at councilor level, controlling all of Sedna, or she might just head up the Rathuum complex there.

8:57 orokin: celebrating their victory over the old war

Natah/lotus: the time has come execute order 66

Greener were designed, from fragments of human DNA and artificially designed DNA, like a super soldier from 40k, only for building, not for war, and not born and modified, but created.  they look like humans, but I would call them a different species.  Orokin, those who achieved something, genetically transformed, moved from body to body, their bodies were human, their minds were not.  and humans, corpus, cestus, independent colonies, more or less modified.   Standard corpus warriors can be compared to greener, except that the corpus technology only allows for indoctrination and cloning.     so apart from the void, infected and sentient, everyone is humans, race humans or more original humans, but greener are the furthest from this concept

All of the factions in Warframe are human in origin dude.
The only exception being the sentients, and infested.
Corpus are human.
Tenno are human.
The settlers on Cetus, human.
Even the OROKIN are human.

I remain unconvinced. The Corpus were around during the time of the Orokin, and the Orokin were the top/educated caste in a caste system. They genetically altered themselves to be superior to others. I haven't found anything that mentions that the Corpus were changed by them. The Corpus is also not a species but a culture and religion that arose during the time of the Orokin. Even if we suppose that 10,000 years has passed since the prime Orokin era, that's not enough time for natural evolution to have taken place with the Ostrons nor the Corpus to make them into anything that wouldn't be considered human. The Ostron being short isn't anything surprising, there are groups of genetically linked people who are shorter on average (such as Asians) and others who are very tall (Scandanavians), and they are all humans. Since the Ostrons is just one genetic group, a small town really, its not surprising that they're all similarly short. Additionally you could argue that the huge difference between the Corpus and Ostrons in height may also be down to the fact that the Ostrons constantly live under the pressures of Earth's gravity, while the Corpus do not; they live harsher lives as well with more physical labor.

If we look at the members of Vox Solaris they all appear quite human as well. They wouldn't identify themselves as Corpus (and in fact call the Corpus "the tax men") but they certainly were born into those colonies. The robot bits on them are from body parts that are or were taken as collateral for their debt to keep them from running away, not some genetic modification. Due to their stated, and obvious genetic manipulation the Grineer are the furthest faction from being human (currently alive in Warframe, the Orokin are arguably further but after a certain someone dies they're all gone).

I liked the video overall, it's well put together, but the very premise feels based on a lack of understanding of the other factions, rather than a detailed understanding of the Grineer.

My god. I never realized how utterly profound the kuria poem is. wipes tears

Aren't the Corpus and the Zariman crew NORMAL HUMANS? They are the humanity!

I mean if i get to wear such a cool mask and use the Gorgon i'm all for it.

Honestly, Kela De Thaym getting high because of a gas leak and inventing Lathuum (a rathuum variant with "acid throwers" filled with water instead of acid) was probably the most hilarious event so far (even if Dog Days is yearly), and my personal favorite tidbit about the Grineer (mainly because it is hilarious in context and out of context)

One of the best warframe lore vids I ever seen. If DE did this it'd be such a massive plot twist.

15:15 Space Marines.

well....Seeing as the operator and the zariman crew wew pretty damn human especially when lostus says "more than human" after the void powers.

I'd argue those similar to the Cestus villagers are remnants of old humanity. As unlike the other factions they were not even on the Caste system of the Orokin. Doesn't mean they aren't different from modern humans ( slight uncanny looks do show that) but are closer to us than anything else.

16:15 little duck mentions her in dialogue when interacting

I have tried Warframe a few times abut quit several years ago because I could not transfer my account when I moved to P.C.
I love the bizarre design. it is like something the space I would see in a high dose mushroom trip. Very bizarre indeed and it leaves me in awe.

Having a well established lore is very important for me and many others. Thank you for creating this. I will definitely look for more nuggets as I slowly make my way through this awesome game.

Thank you for taking the time to share with us new and returning newbs.

Please keep up the good work.:face-red-heart-shape:

Respectfully, I must say that I'm... Not convinced. Bear with me because this is gonna get long (and will definitely get philosophical towards the end). There will be cases where I acknowledge your points with the other factions, but I find it hard to buy that the Grineer were ever really "human" to begin with.

If we ignore the Infested, the Sentient and the Cavia... Then the Grineer (even before the clone rot set in, and the Orokin were still at their height) are genetically the least human faction of all of them. You said it yourself, even when they were created they were genetically engineered, which already disqualifies them from being "humanity's descendants" by default since they were created and heavily modified right from their creation by humanity's descendants. Heck, Kahl's dialogue with Daughter Entrati basically confirms that yes, even from the beginning Grineer were only ever grown in vats.

The Tenno are more or less implied (if not confirmed) to have been human before the events of the Zariman 10-0 incident (emphasis on "before", as our deal with Wally made the Tenno something else, except for Drifter who was altered post-birth through different means).

The Ostrons are way closer to being humanity's surviving descendants, on a biological level the sole differences are height (being the same height as the child-to early-teen sized Operator) and perhaps a better immune system.

The other factions though... You would definitely have a point. How the Solaris survive the Futurama treatment (or the "only mentioned in dialogue" brain shelving) is beyond what any human should be capable of, assuming the Solaris and Corpus literally have a means to keep any species' brain fully alive, functional and supplied with enough nutrition to last outside the skull for however long it takes for a debt to be paid. In which case, the Corpus would probably think that keeping a human head alive without its body is small potatoes to whoever can afford to inflict such a penalty on someone, though as of currently we have only ever heard of it being inflicted on Solaris.

The Myconians (who only appear in one quest, and only one child from their culture, the rest we see of them are that kid's drawings) have a resistance to the Infestation, nuff said.

The Hex are apparently somewhere between Warframe and human, and the Scaldra basically seem to be cyborgs, but both are from the year 1999 AD in Warframe's lore. On-Lyne is in the same boat as the protoframes but even less human. Straight up formerly human (if we can even trust that the On-Lyne we hear are even really them and not just techrot copies created by Höllvania) but unlike the protoframes On-Lyne is thoroughly infested out the wazoo, only having enough of themselves to continue to play the part of a boy band in order to bring in more potential victims (which is what Party of Your Lifetime is about) or otherwise apparently be mouthpieces for their strain of the Infestation.

I've already said that the Grineer are only the most removed genetically (by default thanks to their origin) from humans if we ignore the Infested, the Sentients and the Cavia, and I stand by that.

However, at the end of the day you gotta ask, what even defines "human" in this setting anyway? If it's genetics then humans went extinct during the rise of the Orokin Empire. If it's the overall shape of the body then most factions are still human. If it's the heart and/or the "indomitable human spirit", then the Tenno have that going for them in spades even after the Zariman incident changed what they are forever.

If it's one's actions that defines a human, the Corpus and Solaris collectively are the closest it gets in Warframe's present to humans in 1st world countries while the Ostrons are more similar to somewhere between a 2nd and 3rd World country, scaled down to one settlement.

But if it's the mind that defines a human, that's a whole different can of worms, it is 3:49 AM where I live (at the time of posting this) because I'm living up to my screen name, so I'll end this philosophical rambling here before the wall of text gets any longer than it already is.
