Most of these i thought were good. I rarely go in expecting much though. Thx for the videos!

I got three films that come to mind with this topic:

1. Obsession - I’m a massive Tales From The Crypt and EC comics fan — and seeing a movie trailer that literally lifts its concept from an iconic story of the TFTC franchise, I was thinking this would be a slam dunk. However, I was met with a big old mixed reaction. On one hand, the acting is phenomenal and for this being a first film of the writer and director, it’s beautifully shot and well crafted. Every issue I take with the film has to deal with the story, or how I should say the film spent its focus. It does nothing new at all with the wish gone wrong for hopeful lovers trope whatsoever. And the new element it does bring — involving Nikki’s autonomy clicking on and off throughout — isn’t focused on enough. I think the film would’ve been far more interesting if it played on that element and focused on Nikki’s POV instead of Bear’s. Bear, if he was treated like maybe Sid from Toy Story, would’ve legitimized the film to stand apart from what came before. As is, the movie is a good movie but nowhere near the hype or pedestal people put the film on.

2. The Black Phone - I love Joe Hill’s Full Throttle and 20th Century Ghosts SS collections. They contain some of the greatest horror short fiction I’ve ever read, and The Black Phone was a dark read, and really enjoyable. When I heard it was getting an adaptation, I was thinking okay how will they stretch this out for a movie length — and after seeing it in the theaters, I felt the story just didn’t have enough there to carry 90+ minutes at all. It just felt stale after the first 25 minutes until the Grabber’s defeat. Also, it doesn’t really explore things the short story was able to elaborate on a bit better and it just felt like an inferior version of a good tale. It’s a good movie, but it blows my mind how people praised this over something like Dark Harvest which I thought was a great way to make a novella into a film.

3. Fear Street: Prom Queen - I am a massive RL Stine fan and really wanted to see if the new vision of the fear street franchise in the films being more standalone in nature. Now, the fear street franchise isn’t known to be high brow art or anything, and most can be chalked up to grocery store spinnerrack thriller schlock from the 90’s. The Prom Queen book is essentially just that moniker. So when I heard we were getting a slasher facelift for the story, I checked out the book again and was like the movies gotta be better. Nope. It was an irritating movie with cool kills but poor killer design, cringey characters, bad humor, predictable twists teleplayed by the first 7 minutes, and didn’t do anything to really make the franchise appealing for more installments. It’s a bad movie compared to the other two examples, but I desperately wanted to love this movie.

Samara Weaving is becoming Bonafide Scream Queen & that Silent Hill movie was such an insult to the game, I wish I could sue the director for insulting us so bad

Good video as always, I agree that Ready Or Not didnt need a sequel but I loved it anyway, Been waiting on an adaption of Silent Hill 2 for years and when I heard it was from the director of the original Silent Hill film ( which I think is one of the best game adaptions ever) I had really had high hopes and it was awful. One of the worst films of the year for me, some of the changes to the story were just bizzare

Hiya , i feel the same about evil dead rise , was looking forward to it , they just added some scenes for pure shock and gross value , abit like what they did with saltburn & talk to me ❤❤❤

I agree with most of these takes, good video

Black Phone 1 & 2: Funny, I really like the first one and don't like the second one very much. I DO like the setting in the second one. ☺

Why do people not understand that the writers and directors of movies. Can't stay 100% true to the source material if it's like a game or a book.  It's like you an they literally an figuratively have no idea how writing an directing movies works at all.

Because for one example  Until Dawn. Those writers and directors clearly stated they love the game. But it doesn't work as a movie as it stands because the game gives you multiple outcomes and deaths.  In a movie you cannot restart the movie every time a character dies.  So they have to get around that one permanent death per person rule like in the game. Because if they stuck to that the movie would be over in like the first 30 minutes of the movie.  So they made it so they rest the next night so to speak with the memories of what happened before. Because it was the only way to make it into a movie.

Along with they have to make it so the the general audience will be able to. Fallow an understand what is happening because. If they stayed true to the game only people that played it would be able to understand what was happening.

Now about books or stories being made into movies. Even the writers of those things know an understand that this will need to be changed. In the movie versions because they literally an figuratively know an unstand. They wrote it in a book or story format that doesn't an will not work for a movie or TV series.  Because the stores have to be literally an figuratively told different for the movie and TV series format.

So if the actual writers of the books an stories know an unstand that. Why do you an others have a hard time understanding a  easy and simple concept like that?

The new evil dead movies just can’t capture that original inventive, screwball, over the top vibe of the first two movies.

good vid gremlin. you look healthy

i totally agree with you with everything that's awkward lol

Great video! I totally agree about return to silent hill, was super disappointing and I just never understood why they switched up the most basic things in the story. I will check out the OG silent hill instead. At least we have the new resident evil lol

I hated evil dead burn so much. Just utterly pointless.

One of the movie i think is the most overrated horror movie without a bit of horror or scare is hereditary. Like a complete snoozefest.

Love Both Evil Dead rise and Evil Burn  , one of my favourite franchises ( never liked Army of Darkness, need to rewatch it though) , Final Destination is another fave franchise ( Saw series as well) , loved them all even Final Destination 5 too despite it being a silly one .
Not keen on The Strangers Trilogy either , shouldn’t have been made imo .

My unpopular opinion is I enjoy the following films Final Destination 5 , saw 3D , Jigsaw and spiral all usually disliked or least in  their franchises . Find them a comfort watch 😀

none of the evil deads since 2013 have gone hard enough, that fuckin syringe stabbing

I agree right off the bat, ready or not 2 wasn't necessary.   First one was way better and the second film ended with a big whimper.

Black phone 2 was one of the worst horror films ive seen. Felt like a soulless cashgrab

Yo yo yo X
