This game would be great if only it had a quest from Sul-Matuul, Ashkhan of the Urshilaku Ashlander tride to fetch the Bonebiter Bow of Sul Senipul from the Wraith of Sul Senipul from the Urshilaku Burial Caverns

The fact you jump differently after learning acrobatics, or that you visibly wield your sword differently as you get better with it are such nice touches to increase your immersion.

It's a shame that stuff like that never caught on in RPGs.

And then the sleeper said... COME... And so they CAME. Even the dragons.

Or something.

34:30 That Harpy scream comes from "Warner Bros Sound Effects Library" and it goes way back to Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies from like 1940s/1950s

I appreciate that you leave your verbal fumbles in, or at least some of them. I eat my words when I’m talking more often than I’d like, so it’s reassuring to hear other people do it too

It's funny how the fire rain spell changes from being absolutely worthless in Gothic I to the wrath of Innos himself in Gothic II.

0:37 Gothic has probably some of the most generic lore there is. Human King fights Orcs. There are three gods: the good one, the evil one and the neutral one.
That's not even a rough sketch for lore, that is the introductionary line of an elevator pitch for a rough sketch for lore. And yet it is basically all there is.
But it also doesn't matter because you are not some travelling hero who gets to explore this world and gets to know all the colorful peoples with their believes and learn about the complex relationships of a dozen gods.
You get thrown into prison, you can not leave and you are too busy trying not to get eaten by fat naked rats to care about the lack of lore.
It's a perfect fit, Gothic 1 in particular is almost an anti-Morrorwind when it comes to lore. One has expansive, crazy lore but a generic way to explore it, the other has generic lore but a pretty unique lense to see it through. I love both of them.

Also the nameless hero has no name but certainly a personality whereas many other RPG heroes have a name or at least a title but no personality. It's the small things in life.

Dude you are going to get so many new polish fans

"Your popultation of Poles increses sire"
Now it's time for Stronghold (please)

29:02 ah, the sword of death. Compared to all those other swords that don't kill people.

Ahh, that vintage eurojank...as good as the day I first tasted it.

The algorithm beacon has been lit.... the Poles are arriving.

"Only me aloooooooone! DIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE!" - Nyras the Novice.

Here's some knowledge for the future

1. You don't have to kill kirgo, having the other fighter, harim? Don't remember his name, beat you up in the arena is enough to earn respect from arena keeper

2. No, you can become a mage as early as act 2, the requirement is killing the crawler queen, and you could also immediately learn magick at the swamp camp, but your are limited to only 3, or 4? Circles of magick
Forgot to say that you can become  a FIRE mage as early as act 2, you can't become a water mage before all that old mine collapse thing, and also you can't become a guru, it's just not an option

3. Fire golem can be killed by ice spells too, the one you were using simply doesn't work, but the ice bolts do

4. The mummies in those crevices in the first room of the orc cemetery  can be looted, there is also a kind of a puzzle, where you press a button in one of the crevices, in opens a gate on another where another button is found, and it goes on like this several times, the mummies have some good loot, scrolls, potions, most importantly jewelry, if i remember correctly they had some real good jewelry

5. There is an exploit with telekinesis, if you take the spell, the focus on something with the spell and then you put it away and hold the action button before the focus disappears, you'd be able to pick up the item as if you were next to it

6. There are summoning runes, xardas is supposed to sell summoning runes at the end of the game
Yeah, forget that, did some research and apparently summoning runes are straight up not a thing, nit like you can't get them, they just don't exist, but i remember seeing them, maybe i'm confusing it with gothic 2 or some mod

37:04 - As we're already utilising exploits to some level: Telekinesis is broken, because you never really have to actually cast it. Once you "lock on" to a target, you can just put away the spell and pick up the item, as the game thinks "Ah, items only get highlighted when you're in range, so you must be right next to it. So go ahead  and pick it up king, good job!"

On a related note, there is an interesting damage calculation bug when enemies are on fire. Once you hit an enemy with a fireball or firestorm, unsheathe your melee weapon while still locked on to the target. You will literally see that guy melt away in seconds.

36:25 that's..  an curious animation loop to healing

12:08  "I'm just a glutton for punishment. Baal Torsion, I have your new recruit!"
I very nearly drowned choking on my water.

Here come the poles
