"even her food is scared of her"

.... well, I'd be scared too if i was about to be eaten alive

How to Write a Teenage Villain - Total Drama

Any good villain needs “Presentation!”

ursula's opening monologue works because she's not being dumb and spelling things out to her victim, she's just throwing a pity party in her room and we the audience were accidentally privy to it lmao

Gothel, Maleficent, Yzma, and Hela owned EVERY scene they had. Also, Gothel my villain crush, Ngl😅

13:20 ?? Mother Gothel never kisses Rapunzel's forehead though. She exclusively kisses the HAIR. I'm sorry for picking out words, but it was something I took notice of when I first watched Tangled: that every single one of Gothel's physical shows of affection was given only to the hair. But fundamentally, for emotional storytelling with a visual medium, the outcome is the same regardless of how you view it, so it's a nitpic at best...

How to write a female villain:
1_ write a villain
2_ make them female

Backstories explaining why they are evil and whether or not they truly justify anything or are of any importance depends on the villain. Execution of the villain also matters. They can steal the show and make you understand or even forget their reasoning because they are just that good at their jobs. If the backstory is tied to their motives in a way where it isn’t an excuse that’s when it is appropriate. But it’s always nice to have a truly evil villain.

I'll always be disappointed Disney didn't go with the scrapped concept of villain Amaya (not talking about the couple idea). The final product made her really bland.

Zira mentioned! What a fantastic and underrated villain

Fun video! I would draw the distinction between "just evil for evil's sake" and "evil for a reason, but they are not bothered by that". Ursula sees herself as being a victim of King Triton, unjustly exiled. Mother Gothel is more driven by fear (of aging and death). Both have accepted it and aren't looking for a redemption arc, which is where the villainy ocurs.

Subtitle notes, probably due to Voice to Text:
8:38 "Quote on Quote" should be "Quote, un-quote", symbolizing the opening and closing of a quotation
9:41 "Even compliments are double-etched" should be "double-edged", symbolizing a sword that is sharp on both sides
12:04 - "should focus on a row" should be "should focus on erosion"

I'm so glad you talked about Zira because even if the Lion King 2 wasn't like by many, I loved it because of Zira! She was so badass as a villain not because she was all powerful, but because she was a genuine threat with those who Followed her Ideology, and would rather die than try to change said ideology. So when her Ideology crumbles around her, with those who used to side with her, have a change of heart, she'd rather stick to what she believes without ever changing her perspective. Not to mention she would willingly throw Kovu under the bus, her own son, to keep her plans going, and when she realized he was no longer useful to her, causing more harm than good for her own plans, she abandoned him, scarred him, and tried to kill him later on.

Dont forget gothel had her own daughter she ran out on

The way to write a female villain is to write a villain the exact same way you'd write a male villain.

According to mythology, Sirens are bird women unlike "mermaid sirens" who are fish women

I think Lady Tremaine is another really good villain. She’s narcissistic, cruel, abusive, and has raised her daughters to be narcissists too. She treats Cinderella like dirt on the bottom of her shoe! and demands she have no free time that isn’t devoted to serving her and her daughters. She’s driven to make her daughters marry rich men or princes to make herself rich by default. In Cinderella 2, she guilt trips and berates Anastasia when she wants to go out with the baker. Anastasia craves her mother’s attention and approval, but it isn’t until Cinderella shows her true love that she stands up to her mom. In Cinderella 3, she takes things 10 steps further by literally stealing a wand, going back in time, ripping away Cinderella’s happy ending, erasing the prince’s memory, and almost successfully banishes and kills Cinderella so Anastasia can marry the prince. Instead of deciding to change, both she AND DRIZELLA both get turned into frogs, to live out the rest of her miserable existence.

izma falls on the same place as Jack Horner that she is a vilain clearly, but you just cant help but love her, we of course love Kronk way more

Face it, if you want a perfect villain what you really need is the perfect Voice.
And by that I definitely mean Eartha Kit.

I waited for this video for some inspiration for my potential cartoon project
