The point with Iroh and Zuko is that Iroh is an old soldier and he has done some HEINOUS things, he knows he's not perfect and that he didn't realise his mistakes until it was too late. He wants Zuko to be better.

I love how Woody started out not liking Buzz because Buzz basically stole his place as Andy's favorite toy but by the end of the movie both became a best friends.

I think that’s why Ralph and Vanellope have good chemistry too (at least before the second movie). They start out as different characters, with Ralph being a brooding angry character, with Vanellope being a cheerful mischievous character. But they work because they both have some thing in common, they’re outcasts in their games. Over the movie, they embrace and recognize the things in each other that everyone else hates, and it helps them develop as characters. Ralph learning he doesn’t need to change who he is, and Vanellope learning to accept her unique ability. Overall by the end why form a father-daughter relationship that makes Wreck it Ralph (1st movie) such an unforgettable movie.

Chemistry is one of the most important aspects of a movie or series imo

I casually say "wrong lever" on a nearly daily basis when something misfunctions, lol.
Which is funnier, because I'm an engineer.

I Love how Monsters University when it came out was regarded as another awful Disney sequel... But in the last few years its regarded as a great drama disney film, some (like myself) even think its better than the original.

“leading to this cringy scene…” ad plays 😂

Any other writers looking to see if they’re guilty of this 😂 Honestly it’s all a part of the process when crafting characters that bring out the best, and sometimes worst in each other.

As you hinted in the video, this is also why Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde have good chemistry in Zootopia. *SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T WATCHED IT.* Judy is a rabbit with ambitious dreams of becoming a police officer, and truly believes anyone can be anything and that she can help make the world a better place. At the same time, Nick is a con-artist fox who has seen how badly life can be, and he believes people are what they are, accepting his own stereotype.

When they first meet, Judy falls for a deception, and she quickly dislikes Nick for that humiliation (her trauma of dealing with another fox is also a factor). Both of them think the other fits the stereotype perfectly: Judy is a "dumb bunny" to Nick, while Nick is a "sly fox" to Judy. However, when Judy realizes she needs Nick's help on a case and blackmails him using his own tactics, they form an unsteady partnership where Judy is trying to get the case done seriously, while Nick is having the time of his life by annoying her.

Things begin to change after a hectic sequence where Judy saves both their lives, and Nick defends Judy in front of her chief, later revealing a moment from his past that has had a negative impact on him. The two of them gain respect for one another, and they begin to work more effectively together; eventually, their shared skills help catch a suspect. And then...things go wrong when Judy's unconscious prejudice comes out, and Nick calls her out for it, feeling betrayed that Judy wasn't the friend he thought she was. Judy regrets the damage her actions have caused to Nick and the city, so she quits her job until she discovers the source of the initial case. She returns to Zootopia to find Nick and genuinely apologizes to him, admitting her faults and that he was right about certain things regarding her. They reforge their bond, now with a new understanding, which helps carry them through the rest of the plot.

Judy's optimism, hard work and her determination inspire Nick to be a better version of himself, while Nick's experience, pragmatism and easy-going nature help Judy stay grounded and not get ahead of herself in her naïvety.

Po and Master Shifu r prime examples of the mentorship ingredient thing

14:56 oh my god, this was so easy not to mess up. High five could’ve literally just used his optimism to push Gene to be who he really is and not what his emoji wants him to be, and this could link to the other character, who I forgot the name of too and it could’ve been a good character arc. Gene could’ve been a guy who always tries to overachieve due to his insecurities and so maybe tries to overdo it with plans while High Five could’ve been more simple thinking and the other character could think in the middle of them. This way they could all learn to appreciate the skills each other possess.

I'd also like to bring up Dispatch, a recently released and still ongoing game, for examples of good chemistry! The main character, Robert, is a snarky, deadpan office worker, an ex-hero who recently retired due to his suit being damaged beyond repair. Meanwhile, the people he works with, the Z-Team, are a team of ex-villains heavily implied, if not outright stated, to just have “not going to jail” as their motivations for becoming a part of their rehabilitation program. The Z-Team doesn’t respect Robert at all, even making jokes at his expense, while he fires back by pointing out how immature they are, but they eventually begin to grow to respect each other as Robert leads the team in a “tough love” way none of their previous dispatchers managed to pull off, and it makes for a very compelling, realistic dynamic!

2:52 It's because of these words that I'm starting to understand why the "enemies to lovers" trope is very popular; I for one mostly liked it for it's entertaining reversal, how two characters will go from absolutely hating each other to being in love. But now I see that when done properly, it's also because of their friction! That conflict they have with each other a little after when the characters first, that shared struggle. But with friction also means they rub off of one another, slowly and subconsciously teaching/learning the other's perspective and using that for their own character development! And with enough understanding and care, they develop something deeper than rivalry, and that is friendship. As for for the "lovers" part I don't see that with Mike and Sully (except for "bromance") but I think a good example of that is Luz and Amity from The Owl House. I've already yapped a bunch and I'm super tired so I'm not gonna go into depth with their relationship but if you've seen The Owl House, you know Lumity lol

1:18 The creator of Yu Yu Hakusho is a master class on that. Everytime Hiei and Kuwabara interact, you can always expect hilarity.

How (Not) to Write a Deceiving Villain | Gaston VS King Magnifico

9:56 you know their cemetery is so good when just the sight of both of them makes you laugh.

Another good example of great character chemistry is R2d2 and C3po. Both of them don't have a wide range of expression, and hell one of them only beeps, and yet somehow their dynamic is so well done through situational comedy and their incredibly opposite personalities that some how fir together perfectly.

7:52 - The terrible chemistry between Raya and Namaari did take away from much of the film, but what really sunk it for me was how poorly Namaari was written as an antagonist.  It was her deception and actions as a kid that helped to start off the destruction of their once coexisting societies, but we never see Namaari sincerely apologize nor show any genuine remorse for what she did.  Even after deliberately killing the last dragon, Namaari blames Raya for her own murderous actions like an egotistical narcissist.

If you look at the film from a spiritual perspective, where Raya is the "diligent believer" and Namaari is the "lost-their-way non-believer", it still falls apart because Namaari is FORCED to believe in the dragons and the ancient traditions by Raya at the very last minute (or be petrified forever).  Literally a "believe me religion and traditions or die" situation.

This channel has given me some great ideas for my fanfiction, I like how educational these videos are

So the three types:
Friction: When neither understands the other, but grow to do so
Contrast: When both understands eachother, and utilises that
Mentorship: When one alone understands the other, and after ages, makes it mutual
Basically: Relationships form through understanding, and usualy from understanding that is earned
