Those politicians saying with such confidence that some coastal concrete wall is gonna be a next best defence, seeing how those Kaijus destroy metal bridges & buildings....just shows they don't really care, they probably had their own plan B with secret deep underground VIP bunkers built.

5:35 if youre curious how desperate conflict can effect technology you should think of all the things that came out of ww2.  Radar,  jets,  guided missiles,  nuclear weapons etc.

Most reactors forget that Kaiju blood is toxic, so they can't go around slicing and dicing, making them bleed all over the place, especially in the ocean. So they usually rely on blunt weaponry, freezing weapons, or Striker's missiles that break the skin, cauterize it on the way in, then explode on the inside dealing total damage to the skeleton and organs. There was even an early concept that the blood was somewhat acidic, so the Jaegers would have to be hosed down before it ate through the armor.

They only use blades and anything that will slice and dice as a last resort, and typically the blades are heated to cauterize the wound to minimize bleeding as much as possible. As to why Crimson used saw blades right away, it was a very mobile Jaeger but as a result was light on armor. That single tail whack from Otachi did a lot of damage, as shown in their Conn-Pod, and being the only Jaeger with three arms, it could get more precise slices in to hopefully weaken or kill the Kaiju quickly, but Otachi was faster.

Also I wanna see that Godzilla vs Donkey Kong movie now.

The sword was a new addition to Gipsy Danger after it's repairs, Raleigh was unaware that it even existed and Mako was so focused on following him in combat since it was her first mission that she forgot early on.

Also melee weapons are typically avoided by jaegers unless its a last resort. Melee weapons, while effective, spread a lot of blood, which is highly radioactive and toxic. This is why they primarily use blunt force, or heat-based weapons such as missiles or plasma cannons, as these cauterize the wounds, minimizing blood spill.

47:56 They dont want to use weapons to cut or slice open Kaijus mainly because of the toxic kaiju blue blood shown in the beginning of movie.

The Jaegers mostly use blunt force techniques like punches or special cauterising hits like plasma cannons, fire, freeze coolant to damage their internals without having much blood spill.

They only use cuts as a last option like the Crimson Typhoon's spinning blades or the swords in Gypsy Danger.

fun fact: Otachi and leatherback is specifically made to destroy Cherno alpha because Cherno alpha is a close range combat Jeager, because of it kaiju couldn't penetrate it and also the crew compartment was in the chest and not in it's head, the head is it's reactor and it was impenetrable. Cherno alpha is mark one Jeager, the oldest Jeager in service, all the mark one, mark two and mark three pilots were dead except Cherno alpha and Becket of mark three Gypsy

believe it or not, the eye was actually a black hole , you can see it sucking matter, and behind it is the sun (not ours)

Eureka is Aussie, so of course the pilots are mad enough to fire a flare gun at kaiju. 🤣

The stunning thing to me is watching really young people react to things like this and not getting some of the most fun references. If you two ever play Portal, and then (because you enjoy it) Portal 2, you will be unable to forget the voice of GladOS. And then you'll know where the mechanical voice in this movie comes from.

Btw in this fight 40:00 there's a reason for how easy the jaegers fall when Gottlieb drifted with kaiju it was two way connection he gave the all information about the three jaegers and the kaiju's they (Their Masters) sent was build specifically counter for that three jaegers also at that time Gipsy was rebuilding so he dont know exact info about it and thats why Gipsy can slay both of them

Welcome to Peakcific rim

Hannibal Chau is the same actor that plays 'Hellboy'!

They mentioned in the opening prologue that the Kaiju’s blood is toxic. Excessive blood splatter from the Kaiju polluted the environment. This is what they dubbed “Kaiju Blue” at the beginning.

To mitigate this risk, the Jaegers had to rely on blunt force and plasma weapons that would cauterize the wounds. Jaegers were also designed for different styles of combat that didn’t require long-range bladed weapons. Swords can be used as a last resort or if the battle occurs far enough from a populated area.

Keep in mind, Raleigh didn’t even know about the sword because it was a prototype Mako had designed and installed in Gipsy Danger as part of the Mark 3 restoration program. It probably hadn’t even been tested yet since it was a new weapon installed in Gypsy.

The hive mind of the Kaiju means that they can adapt, changing weapons and tactics over time. The same is true with the Jaegers as each Mark represented an evolution in technology, weaponry, tactics, and design to counter the evolving Kaiju threat. Had the aliens known about the swords earlier, they would have developed ways for the Kaiju to counter them.

So sad they never made a sequel

The reason they were avoiding using guns and blades is because kaiju blood is extremely toxic and the more open wounds they create the more damage the blood will cause to the environment and infrastructure of the cities. Blunt force injuries are the most efficient way to kill one with minimal collateral damage, thus punching is usually the opening move.

They do still have and use the blades and projectiles if the fight is going badly (like Crimson Typhoon busting out the saw blades or Striker’s concussion missiles) but ideally they would start and finish the fight hand to hand.

What sold action in this movie is physics, mechs have inertia suitable to their mass, sequel and Transformers for example it feels fake cos movement feels fake.

Okay subbed yall have been on a Mecha show streak

best kaiju film

I really do love the designs of the Jaegers & the Kaiju's they all look awesome.

Love this movie seen it 3 times in theater
