They did NOT think vodka was healthy in the 80s. Marty's mom was an alcoholic in the unaltered 1985.

She is absolutely right about older movies having better music.

Rick and Morty is in fact 100% an homage to doc and Marty from back to the Future😂😊

Here is a cool fun fact; the teacher in the gymnasium that told Marty that his band was, "Too darn loud", is the same guy that wrote and performed the actual song, Huey Lewis-

27:30 - "but why? I hate watching TV when I eat."

Here in 1955 TV was brand new and super exciting for families.

10:24, DMC stands for DeLorean Motor Company.

I was 10 when this movie came out.  I remember how insanely long ago 1955 seemed.  Now, 1985 is even longer ago.  Mind bending.

46:20 when Marty takes a drink from the bottle, it was real liquor. The filming crew pranked him, so his reaction is genuine.

1:05:05 it's actually directed but Robert Zemeckis who also directed classics like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", "Forrest Gump," and "Cast Away". It's produced by Steven Spielberg but Zemeckis has his own genius that is on display here.

Color tv became widespread in the US in the 1970’s but the show the family is watching towards the beginning is a “rerun “ of a classic, older show from the 1950’s called ‘The Honeymooners.” The joke is that later, when Marty is in the past, they are watching the same show but from when it first was on tv.

Far more time has passed (over 40 years) than the 30 years Marty went back in time. This movie hit like a thenderclap so it is now ironically a time capsule to the '80s.

The guy who said "I'm afraid you're just too darn loud" is Huey Lewis himself, who sings the song "Power of Love" in the movie.

Kids, I was born in '85 and let me tell you that the mid 90s-early 2000s was awesome. Great movies, great tv, great music, great pop culture, great work and investment opportunities.

They already had reruns by 1955. I Love Lucy had them in the 1952-53 season.

The mall parking lot scenes were filmed at Puente Hills Mall in Southern California.  In 1982, I met my future (now ex) wife at that mall; she lived with her parents in a small community called Hacienda Heights, less than a mile away.  This movie was released about a year after we got married, and my wife and I, not knowing that Puente Hills Mall was used in the film, went to see it in a theatre.  My wife, who had spent many hours in her teens hanging out at that mall, quickly recognized it and let out a loud squeal, which I think everyone watching the movie heard.

The name of the mall was changed from Twin Pines Mall to Lone Pine Mall because in 1955, Marty ran over and killed one of the twin pines at the Peabody Farm.

The USA transitioned to color tv in 1959 but color tvs didn’t become widely available until the mid 70s in 85 color was standard, yes we had cars in 55 the ford method had been in use for 50 years

It was supposed to be Marty's mom Lorraine undressing with open blinds. And it was well known among the school boys she does it, which is why Grandpa yells "Another one of those kids". It happened before. But I think they changed the actress for the final version.

This film is often referenced as being "The prefect script".

51:25 The song Marty is playing is “Johnnie Be Goode,” released by Chuck Berry in 1958. Chuck’s cousin Marvin calls up Chuck on the phone to let him hear it.
