THANK GOD. SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT THE NEON DEMON. It feel so underrated. This and the subtle hints at a supernatural twist throughout the movie is chef’s kiss.

Neon Demon strut so The Substance could run

It’s crazy how much the substance got so much love but this one didn’t and it has almost the same premise

everyone shut up my show is on!!

It was the timing of this film. It was the height of influencer and performative internet culture, so this movie is both a beautiful time capsule and a distorted cautionary warning of past and future lessons regarding "The Industry." Beautiful analysis! Keep doing your critiques, they're weird, wonderful, and unique/enriching take on cinema as an art form.

Why has no one mentioned how great your lighting is??? This video is so pretty

I feel like this movie is a re-telling of the narcissus myth, with jessie's transformation to shallowness (and kissing her reflection in the runway) and the pool she died in, ruby getting rejected by jessie, etc etc

"In defense"? Shows what a bubble I'm living in. I was sure we all just liked this one.

Maybe I missed you saying this but I also think that when she asked if she was sex or food - the rejection of Ruby in the third half solidified her as FOOD to the others because she was not going to have sex.

I feel like every time something sus happens we need a little She is 16 sign pop on screen

5:38 No money, no family, 16 in the middle of Miami, you say?

You really are in a league of your own for film review/commentary videos

FINALLY SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS MOVIE! i made the mistake of seeing this in middle school when it came out and its been haunting me for years

I WAS OBSESSED WITH THIS MOVIE when it came out, the fashion, the lights, the last scene of Sarah eating Jess’ eyeball before going back on set like it’s nothing….uncanny asf

The whole thing was creepy. Every guy was the one who answers 'No' when someone asks if their friend group has someone who you'd worry being alone with a woman, because it's them. The horror is that all of it seems normal in that world. It ain't normal.

To me, it felt like she could have been primed to replace the girl that got all the work done, but since she rejected the head witch, she decided to sacrifice her if she couldn't claim her.

I was flabbergasted to learn this movie wasn’t very well received by audiences (I don’t count critics opinions as valid when it comes to horror because they’re always wrong ). But I think this movie was definitely ahead of its time and am so happy it’s found cult success at least

Neon Demon and Velvet Buzzsaw are two my favorite "nobody seems to like this horror movie" movies.

The neon demon is one of those films where i think there is layers like the movie is so layered and symbolic

The dreamy vibe of this film really lends itself to the trance like spell that beauty has over society and culture as a whole. Honestly, I loved this film when it came out. Sad to hear that it didn't do well but not really surprised since it has an unconventional delivery method for it's message. Truly a forever fav! Thanks for shining a light on this forgotten film
