So instead of 50 tracks, you just 5X your effects chain lol. Good tips

You really have interesting content with a lot of good ideas!

I always see my tracks as band members playing an instrument. Only the percussion has subtracks (each percussion element is in its own right an instrument), but aside that, it’s mainly about finding the the right sound with the other layers. You quickly fill up the spectrum. Your arrangement is key here, not your amount of sounds. Even ambient, if you know how to handle a polymorphic synth, one track could be half your song.

Thank you for all of the amazing suggestions here my friend. This stuff is gold. 15 years into my production journey and still learning to much.

Post fader is a great advice. Definitely use it in my production ❤

Perfect limitation is ableton intro with max 16 tracks😂 or hardware gear like digitakt 1 with 8 tracks or syntakt with 12. True cookoo as I remember once produced an album on digitone only with  4 tracks. There you have to think how layer different sounds on one track to get the maximum from it. It’s a fun challenge

Very much what I do.I've just got to learn to finish them off more!

My god I need to recreate that shaker sound! ...  Great video, probably exactly what I need to hear right now

I do much the same but instead of having it controlled by LFO I record the movement I want with a fader. So it wont be random, the waves have a clear purpose and can help build tension and release it. Considering perceived note goes with dominating frequency. Lots of interesting stuff can be made with filter peaks bending around a certain area correlating with the note currently playing. Making bass for example rumble with certain intent and also in harmony or more dissonance if that is wanted, tuned by your ear realtime as you are doing this manually. Nothing wrong with LFO, I use that also at times. Just trying to open up eyes here to how to take this one step further.

Only 52 tracks? 😂❤

Great video 🔥 thanks for making/sharing

Best music tutorial guy on the net. Just spitting gems.

The track is really good :D

Bro… my vocal stack is almost 50 tracks. (But I make stuff with tons of vocal harmonies, layers, and adlibs.) 😂

There’s some good advice in this video. I’d say you could distill it down to: there’s a big difference between “adding more tracks to make the song sound bigger/busier” vs “adding tracks that the production NEEDS”. If you have a clear vision for the song, then do what’s in service of that. If you don’t have a clear vision for the song, then that’s where people run into overcomplicating and getting lost in sound design exploration. Gotta “keep your eye on the prize” as they say.

If you don’t have a vision, then you need to force yourself to finish full songs that you know aren’t your BEST work. That way you can come back to the song, figure out what doesn’t match your artistic vision, and get clearer on your vision for future songs.

Sounds like keygen music

Ahhhh... I always wondered what the hell you'd use pre-send for lol. Great tip, thats awesome! Now i know!

I got a new computer and only picked 2 instrument vst's and maybe 10 fx vst's its been the best thing. I love that you are pushing this out to the world. Good stuff as always.

Sisyphos ❤

Happy new year, Philip! As always top notch👌
