I dont care what anyone says. 80s metal is iconic and will stand the test of time.

RIP to Tawny Kitaen

RIP JOHN SYKES!!!!!  One stellar musician and great human being!

David Coverdale, the lead singer and founder of Whitesnake, was a former lead singer of Deep Purple.

This is one of those songs that needs to be experienced through a large arena sound system where you feel it, just a massive sound, love it

"Slow and Easy", "Slide it In" should be the next two on your list.

Whitesnake was formed in the 70's by David Coverdale (vocals), who had been the singer of Deep Purple from 1974 to 1976 - he recorded 3 albums... 'Burn'... 'Stormbringer'... and 'Come taste the band'... before Deep Purple split up.
Deep Purple's Jon Lord (keyboards) and Ian Paice (drums) were early members of Whitesnake.
Initially, David Coverdale recorded 2 solo albums in 1977 and '78 ("Whitesnake"... and  "Northwinds")... and in 1978, he decided to call his band Whitesnake (referring to his d+++ 😂)... Early Whitesnake albums featured the talents of Bernie Marsden & Mick Moody (guitars), Neil Murray (bass), Dave Dowle (drums)... By the early 80's, Whitesnake was a huge hit in Europe and Japan... but Coverdale wanted success in America like he had w/ Deep Purple.

In 1984, Whitesnake released their 6th album 'Slide it in'... and it was released in the US on Geffen Records and got some commercial success. The album featured former Thin Lizzy guitarist John Sykes.
In 1987, Coverdale recorded the self-titled "Whitesnake" album w/ (the late) guitarist John Sykes, bassist Neil Murray and drummer Aynsley Dunbar... They recorded the classic songs like - "Still of the Night"... "Here I go again" ... "Is this love"... "Crying in the rain"...
But before the albums was completed, Coverdale fired the band - he wanted a new Whitesnake line-up to promote it... They were heavily featured on MTV in '87 (The band in the music videos was not the one on the record - Adrian Vandenberg and Vivian Campbell on guitars, Rudy Sarzo on bass and Tommy Aldridge on drums) and the album sold 8 million copies in the US, 25 million worldwide.

There was some controversy because 'Still of the night'... sounded somewhat like Led Zeppelin... Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page loved the song, calling it "the best song Led Zeppelin never recorded"... but vocalist Robert Plant was not a fan and derogatorily called Coverdale "David Coverversion".

After the tour, guitarist Vivian Campbell left Whitesnake (He joined Def Leppard in 1992)... Adrian Vandenberg (guitar) co-wrote the next Whitesnake album 'Slip of the tongue'... but an injury left him unable to play guitar in the studio, so Coverdale enlisted virtuoso guitarist Steve Vai to record the album in 1989 and tour w/ Whitesnake... It sold platinum in the US.
Unfortunately, David Coverdale's divorce from model/actress Tawny Kitaen (who was featured in 3 Whitesnake music videos) led him to disband Whitesnake in 1991... He recorded an album in 1993 w/ Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page as "Coverdale.Page".

In 1997, he released the album 'Restless heart' under the name David Coverdale's Whitesnake... followed by a solo album 'Into the Light' in 2000... but record sales were poor.
Finally, David Coverdale reactivated Whitesnake w/ a new line-up in 2002 and began touring actively again and releasing new music as well.

Because of health issues, David Coverdale announced in 2025 that he was retiring and disbanding Whitesnake once again.

RIP John Sykes… Met him a few times, at work. Super nice man.

The breakdown in this is why I love this song . If Im not mistaken the woman in the video was David Coverdales ( Leadsinger ) GF , she appears in several of their videos . Great pick . Have a lovely weekend 🙃

RIP Tawny Kitaen

This song is such iconic ! Whitesnake is an incredible band

John Sykes! The wall of sound on this album.

Cover "Here I go again on my own",  First time seeing Tawny Kitaen slithering over 2 cars is a life changer.

Check out the band Fastway! They jam

Damn that wig suits Hollywood

One of my top five guitar solos

Great band. Someone already gave a great breakdown of their career, but man. Check out Here I Go Again, Slide It In, Live Ain't No Stranger, Judgement Day, and Cryin' in the Rain, among many others.

By the way, in this video, it was basically an all-star band. David Coverdale on vox, Rudy Sarzo from Quiet Riot on bass, Vivian Campbell from Dio (and later Def Leppard) and Adrian Vandenberg from Vandenberg on guitars, and Tommy Aldridge from Ozzy, Pat Travers, and Black Oak Arkansas on drums.

80's rock was the best ever made. Nothing else compares.

The ending of this song is pure hard rock

Smoke is giving off Sammy Hagar vibes 😎
