Good video, but Cranky being the original DK is not a "fan theory." The DKC manual literally spells out that Cranky Kong is the original Donkey Kong who fought Mario. It's unambiguously official.

...You spent all that time on Earthworm Jim while ignoring the more obvious shoes of a certain blue needlemouse?

Okusan isn’t wearing a French maid, it’s just a dress, apron, & headband. The black & white coloring makes it looks like she’s in a maid outfit.

Icebergs aren't inherently about theories its about lore and more obscure facts secrets and theories.

I'm really confused by your coverage of the "No Hopers" in DKC2.  You mention Earthworm Jim's gun, but don't mention Sonic's shoes, which are imo way more recognizable.  More importantly, the challenge that Earthworm Jim and Sonic failed was to collect as many DK coins as possible, not to beat the game quickly - I've never heard of any challenge involving beating DKC2 in under an hour - although in DKC1 Cranky claims to have beaten that game in one hour with one life, but that's an entirely different game and has nothing to do with the No Hopers trashcan.  I've also never heard of this so-called "Fun Mode" where you play as Cranky - do you have a source for that claim anywhere?

I think Uncle Kong is a play on the phrase, "Well I'll be a Monkey's Uncle".

Not as common nowadays, but back in the day it was the sanitized version of a different phrase.

Fun fact: King K. Rool's voice actor in the animated series also reprised his role in the fanmade animation "Return to Krocodile Isle".

Correcting the first fact, but no, donkey Kong from the country games/modern DK isn’t jr. That DK is Jr’s son, known as “donkey Kong the 3rd”. We don’t know what happens to Jr, but I highly suggest seeing carlito’s video on “every single Kong” for future reference.

Skylanders WAS gonna have more characters from nintendo, but since they didn't make skylanders a nintendo console only franchise they scrapped it, I think kirby was planned at a point and fox

DONKEY KONG BANANZA SPOILERS!!!!!

A correction for [K. Rool’s Wife] 14:53
In the Feast Layer of the game, Kaos appears as a Fossil you can dig up and it does indeed reference that the Robot was “Created by a maverick scientist… using his wife’s pots and pans.”

Seeing as DKB is the most recent game and still referencing it - even if it’s still a joke - they’re acknowledging it. Personally, i hope it becomes a recurring bit that K Rool is constantly pissing his wife off and she’s far scarier than him

imagine count every time he said "Donkey Kong" in the whole video

Notes/corrections:
I'm not a mega expert on obscure DK info, but there are a few things that stood out.

At 28:59, the Vine Valley Smokestacks go a bit deeper.
The version of DK Island you see on the world map of DKC1 places the Kremkroc Industries Inc. factory on top of the giant DK head's brow.0
The old render depicts it as being behind Vine Valley instead. This is also true for when DK Island is visible from the Gangplank Galleon at the end of DKC1, as well as ALL in-game appearances in DKC2.
It's theorized that the Factory world was originally going to be right behind the valley, but was relocated to his brow later in development. And the Factory being in the wrong spot everywhere else is due to the original assets being used.

The other major things I thought were worth noting:
- Cranky being the original DK has been confirmed directly on numerous occasions
- Modern DK being the same character as DK Jr actually has very little evidence. Pretty much any indication of such has been unofficial or licensed material. Jr appears to be a separate character, but Modern DK acts as a stand-in for marketing occasionally, such as in Mario Kart World.
- Sonic's shoes are also by the No Hopers trashcan
- As far as I'm aware, the Cranky Challenge mentioned is completely unrelated to the No Hopers sign. In the credits of DKC1, Cranky mentions beating the game with 1 life and under 1 hour.
- Big Ape City is only said to be on DK Island in the licensed kids book "Rumble in the Jungle." Considering the Kongs have to ride in a zeppelin to get there, it's probably on a nearby mainland, which would line up with New Donk City even more.
- K Rool never used the Blast-O-Matic, so it's unlikely that the DK head being missing is due to him. There are many theories, but I think the idea that volcanic activity and earthquakes caused it to crumble away is the most likely.

Dude, that Crosshair Bananza tidbit is crazy. Really cool. Did not notice that, or even know about the early designs.

the cartoon show, K.Rool's voice actor worked pretty well IMO

Younger me would have loved these kind of videos lol this was great!

Thr mourning sprites are more likely going to be used if you failed the bounus stages. But because the stages have bottomless pits and are in a time limit, having them fail in mid-air over a pit wont work

"You play as some Red Guy"
A RRRRRED GUUUUUUY?!?! WHO... IS... THIS.. RRRRRED GUY?!

29:50 Bad guy using a gun to turn a character to stone rescued by DK. That'd be a fun game...

35:51 "There's no question if it's Samus's shop or not. If i overlay it onto it, yeah, it looks exactly the same."
(Overlays the wrong ship)

31:00 the death theme was almost certainly meant for the player dying to K. Rool given that every level theme in the game has a specific tune for that level

5:30 the latetest Paper Mario game: Origami King out of all
