the choreography has always been so so underrated! like hello? they had an entire ensemble of male dancers that could land double pirouettes. and it really feels like the camera director understood how to film dance sequences so they could be fully appreciated

Ok I need to get this off my chest. This movie made me break my arm. I was sitting on a baby gate at my grandparents house watching this (because it’s one of my all time faves) and when Tanner gets out of the car and his smile flashes at the camera it caused such a reaction from me that I fell off the gate and broke my arm.

teen beach was so good i can’t believe they never made a sequel

This musical really needs a stage adaptation, they could even play into bit of the audience as the 4th wall

surprised that the rocky horror parallels didn't include the fact that mac's grandpa is literally brad

Recording b-roll of you swimming in the ocean on a cloudy day for minimum an entire hour is inspired (unless you loop some of it which absolutely fair also)

absolutely legendary pre chore refresh pull

I can't stop watching the ocean B roll. It's so mesmerizing and funny at the same time

i never thought about it until now, but this movie is probably why i love the guy who didn’t like musicals so much

@ax.olotls 2 months ago

Fun fact, the grandpa is played by the guy who played Brad in Rocky Horror

I actually clapped my hands with joy like a baby playing peek-a-boo when I saw this appear on my feed

I didn't really mind the mad scientists. I think it's probably because I always did prefer the kinds of cheesy old movies they are a parody of than the teen dance movies of that same era.

Teen beach movie was so good and the sequel was so bad

I love how I'm just enjoying the analysis and then occasionally I remember that Maxwell's just floating in the ocean in the background. And it makes me chuckle every single time.
Your dedication to the bit is unmatched. Complete cinema.

Lela being able to change the entire story feels like it’d be some kind of horror movie for the people inside of Wet Side Story. You know that something is wrong, but you have to go along with it until you forget what you did at first, or if the movie you thought you were in even existed in the first place. Idk, it feels weird to me

genuinely always impressed by how much meaning and commentary on humanity and personhood you manage to get out of stuff that would often be passed off as "just kids stuff". like even "just kids stuff" was still made with intent and feeling behind it and thank you for helping me appreciate that

I don’t know if the way you filmed the video was to avoid copyright issues, but I enjoy the style of the video!

Being in the ocean for an hour must have been so exhausting. I appreciate the commitment to the video!

Teen beach movie was My Movie when I was young, only just entering elementary school. I watched it multiple times a day, every day, for MONTHS. It was probably my first hyperfixation. And while I don't remember much about its sequel, I only remember that it was the first time in my entire life in which I did not like a movie. I have been waiting YEARS for someone to actually cover it like this, thank you for doing it.
