I finally understood The Dark Knight for the fifth time!

Hey Jared, I used to watch you on wisecrack and was sad you left. Just recently found your channel and I have been bingeing it hard catching up on all the stuff ive missed. Your videos on Nier automata and dark souls are some of my favourite videos on the net, and this channel is just as good. Really great stuff, very insightful, well written and thoughtful, keep it up!

I'll be back in 50 years when someone pulls Nolan's Joker as inspiration for his villain ,noticing how some things never change

Listening to the discussion on state-sanctioned violence, and a thought just occurred to me.

In The Dark Knight, Batman himself is, ironically, a part of Joker's joke. While the Joker doesn't explicitly point it out, we see Batman's violence being all but legitimized by Gotham PD. For example, Batman flies to China and abducts a citizen after beating up his security detail and drags him all the way back to Gotham. He dumps this man at Gotham PD's doorstep, and rather than question the legitimacy of how this man was acquired, they arrest and prosecute him.

Batman fancies himself an extrajudicial vigilante, and yet the violence that he uses is considered acceptable to the state, thereby becoming one of its means of order. Batman is a hamster, running in a wheel, thinking himself a new solution to Gotham's decay.

RIP Heath. What a performance.

Waiting patiently for "124 Years Later I Finally Understand 'A Trip to the Moon'"

''You have NOTHING to threaten Me with''...the single most psychologically revealing statement uttered by Heath Ledger's Joker;his insane laughter belies a hidden tormented humanity riddled with cynicism, bereft of human connections to care about and when contrasted with Joaquin Phoenix's Joker;''Gary?you were the only one who was ever nice to Me''...that tormented humanity becomes even more poignant

he cant keep getting away with this...

Jared in his Toad phase.

06:24 looks like the scene where The Joker fakes his death to Gamble.

I think the reason why Chris Nolan films have such a unique quality to them is not just because he is a great film craftsmen, but also because he has a great deal knowledge about things outside of just film. Film makers who have a large body of knowledge and have lots of curiosity about things other then film tend to make great and interesting movies. I think that the reason why Modern movies feel so hallow, many modern film makers are just narrow educated technical specialist who don't no much about anything outside their areas of expertise, which is a glaring flaw of modern education systems and effect many other industry's as well.

I  didn't think I was going to learn so many new things but you continue to surprise me with every video

Great work man! Your b roll selections are spot on with this one especially. The shutter speed on your camera seems a little bit high, no motion blur on your hands. Better too high than too low, but a little motion blur would bring it home. Setup looks really good, man. Nice work!

This US type of censorship where you can’t mention a certain painter or your video gets demonetized is just ridiculous. Even Harry Potter knows that it’s the correct move to name the evil.

RIP Heath Ledger 🙏❤️

I’m pretty sure this movie only came out like 5 years ago…

Different channel but your video analyses are still great! So glad I found your channel!

I wonder if Jarred has noticed a theme in his favorite movies as I have. One of false saviors turned exposed villains in a world only sustainable with what could be defined in a neutral and individual way as horrific acts that somehow gain legitimacy through the myth of their retelling. Spring Breakers included.

i just watched The Testament of Dr Mabuse for film class a couple days ago, crazy timing

That haircut is bringing me back to 1994
