I was at this show at the ASU football stadium where they filmed it in Tempe, Arizona. Two nights in a row of filming and tickets were only $5! Still have my concerts stubs.
With your (shared) love of Bono’s falsetto…. You need to react to Love is Blindness/I Can’t Help Falling In Love with You from the ZooTV show you’ve reacted to other songs from. I can’t help will absolutely melt you….
Outstanding performance of a magnificent song. Check out the performance of Mothers of the Disappeared from the out-takes of Rattle and Hum for more goosebumps!
Yessir, the quality of it is first rate. Look, when you’re talking about 1980s live performances there is no substitute for 35 mm film. It’s so funny how whether you watching music performances or feature films of old, capturing them in 35 mm film really imprints the image on our minds in a sense of timeless beauty. Whenever you look at videotape from the 90s, 80s, 70s… the quality ages like milk. Celluloid, however if preserved and especially if retransferred on a state of the art machine nowadays and then digitally captured for preservation… is forever beautiful.
There are a couple outtakes from the stadium performances that are excellent. Bad is epic and so is One Tree Hill. I was there for the two nights they played. 1987 was such a great time to be a U2 fan.
