I’m running the CYC X1 Pro on my 2010 Kona Hahanna e-bike build and I couldn’t be happier with it. I paired it with a 72V battery, tuned the startup so it’s smooth, added brake cutoffs and a gear shift sensor, and limited the bike to 35 mph. It has tons of power in reserve, climbs great, and still feels like a real bicycle when I’m just pedaling around.

The Johnny Nerd Out consultations were worth every penny. Their guidance saved me from buying unnecessary parts or ending up with components that didn’t match the build. His videos are also very helpful, especially this one explaining the different motor options. I agree on Bafang too, that’s what I started with. Very reliable and very easy to set up.

BBSHD UART has been and continues to be best bang for buck mid-drive motor. Unbeatable.

TSDZ8 owner here, ask me anything. In two words, it's a perfect choice, cheap, easy to install even if you do it for the first time, and good power for ANY terrain. It feels like you are riding a powerful bicycle, but not a motorcycle and you are not ghost pedaling. The disadvantage is that levels 1-5 are almost the same, the difference between levels is very small, but I heard it can be fixed by updating the firmware, I'm going to do this some time later, need to buy the update kit from ali.

About four years ago I Bought a Cyclone Kit From You. Lots a Power, But Horrible Mounts and Parts. I had two Seasons of Building And Repairs instead of Ridding so I Ordered a CYC Pro With The A65 Bat. Built a Second Bike With Those Parts and EVERYTHING you Said About CYC is Spot On. I did Get the Cyclone to Make a Full Season Without Breakage, But I was So Impressed By the CYC Pro Over the Winter I Bought a Second Kit and Replaced the Cyclone.  They Are SO Bad Ass, So Reliable, and So Much FUN..!  Last Year about 1750 Miles. This Year Im Coming Up On 4000..! Yes they are Powerful,  maybe to Much for Some, But I Love Them. Keep Doing Excellent, Informative Videos Bro..!

Mode 5 on the TSDZ16 in bonzer!! There's nothing this thing cannot climb. Now to find a suitable hub that is compatible with this beast.

Have Bafang mid and Tongsheng.
And both great. The Tongsheng tsdz16 with its torque sensor is so good. The good thing about both brands is stuff like Displays and gear change sensors. Are compatible .

In 2022 I converted our greenway bikes with Tongshengs that had the open source firmware.  TDLR the open source firmware was fun to play with but it turns out it is easy to fry motors and controllers and it turns out that those parts are easy to get and easy to replace.
I ended up setting both bikes to only run a max of 360 watts (plenty for greenway) and they have stayed cool and working perfect for a few thousand miles now.
I'd just go stock tongsheng or two-seven if I end up replacing them.

ToSeven DM01 is an excellent torque sensor for commuting. CYC Photon Is an amazing trail motor as the torque sensing is so refined. So when you're on a slippery incline, you don't spin the back wheel because you can really control that torque. The DM01 doesn't have that fine torque sensing, but for commuting you don't need it.

I put a tsdz 1:14 16 on an ozark trail hardtail. So awesome
