I've been waiting for you to review this since I saw it about a month ago. Funnily enough, my "Home Mechanic" top tool for 2026 (so far) is the other £50 disc-facing tool that uses the diamond tile-cutting disc. I think it's a thing of simple genius. It's not suitable for a professional setting, but for a DIYer who only needs it for one or two frames every few years at most, and who has all the time in the world to get the job done, it's brilliant.

What a super tool. Has the advantage of being able to face slightly recessed mounts too. It is worth mentioning that for best results, new pads should be fitted after facing mounts, as the previous pads might be worn to an angle. If you just can't get the bite you expect from disc brakes, get the mounts faced. It is often transformative.

You'd think every bike manufacturer would use this in their assembly line before the bike is shipped. But brilliant tool and tempting to buy this tool. I did a bike refresh and all carbon. They all needed refacing at the brake mounts and bottom bracket. Luckily my LBS did the refacing with no charge... For now. With almost every bike needing refacing, it'll be an up charge soon enough.

I see LeBycle are making bottom brackets too. That will be a huge test how good they are if these are decent, reliable and cheap

I think you have nailed the state of play in your discussion. With Chinese consumer products (cars, bikes, cameras, washing machines, you name it), we are seeing a period similar to what I recall as a young fella in the 1960's and 1970's where Japanese consumer products were considered rubbish, BUT then Japanese products improved rapidly over time and, of course, now Japanese manufacturing quality is arguably some of the best in the world.... I think we are at that watershed moment now with Chinese products emerging into seriously quality cutting-edge products... my next bike will be a Chinese frame, built with Chinese wheels, groupset and accessories. My current bike has Chinese carbon integrated handle bars, carbon pedals and 3D printed saddle.. all good quality items...

Orhter tools that can face the two brake posts at the same time, cost 700+€ from VAR, and 1150+ from Cyclus, the Var one has a very simlar design (or to be more correct, the Lebycle has a similar desgign to VAR). I guess if everybody just did all the cutters with a standard size, it would't matter what tool one buys. But, every facing tool on the planet - for what I know - has proprietary cutters... That's why almost every bike relate tool maker is a POS on my book. Imagine a world where each grinder has a proprietary disk, every drill proprietary bits...

Looks quite good. I can think of a few frames that have recessed flat mounts on aerodynamic forks, that this would not work on. An example would be the Quickpro ER:One. Other than that, it is a tempting purchase!

Looks a lot simpler than the park tool unit , in particular the individual dedicated dummy axles , I find the adaptable park one moves on compression sometimes .great video I want one now

I've to wonder if facing the surface will prevent caliper movement when torquing to spec. I'm not sure if the uneven surface is sole reason why caliper shifts while screwing in the bolts

Subscribed half way through the video. But now I'm left left intrigued... Would one of the Bike Shops that would nick your idea for the Video, be a Shop that comes across as if they are F1 mechanics? Their videos are a bit poncy at times, and I sometimes wonder if it's just a rouse to charge higher prices than need be? I suppose what I'm trying to say in around about way, is after watching yours and some other channels, I'd be giving you my bike to fix. Not trying to slag the other channels but I like how open and honest you are, and the content is engaging and I enjoy it. Keep up the good work.
