The characters in MvCI looks like Saints Row player characters cosplaying them.

MvCI got dealt the dirtiest hand by Disney. What sucks the most about how it panned out was that it has a great base to work with for a good MvC game; and some awesome newcomers (Monster Hunter being one of 'em), but not being given the time, budget, or access to the number of mainstay characters it needed was criminal.

It’s still amazing that SFxT exists. Seeing Tekken characters in a 2D game is so cool.

When Combo Fiend called the characters “functions” I already knew it was over for MvCI. 🤦

7:16 Another issue with timeouts in the vanilla game was also that gray life recovery was insanely fast, there was no way to remove recoverable health from the opponent (like how snapback does in MVC/DBFZ), and no snapback mechanic to force in low life characters. The first two issues were both fixed in the 2012 update, but by then it was too little, too late.

SFxT also made Megaman fans super happy. It was not the best of times for a joke character.

4:00 on disk DLC was also an issue with MvC3, and the even funnier part is Capcom's Japan office was warned by the American teams that people would find out and be very upset. Being very Japanese minded, they were like "why would anyone datamine/hack the game? that's illegal" and dismissed those warnings.

KOF 12 is a special case. SNK the game was rushed out incomplete due to time constraints.  13 is the completed version of 12.  12 was being released as an anniversary game for SNK, but due to the costs of animation and the amount of time it took per character, the characters weren't finished in time.  One of the biggest problems I have is that there are some stages that are unique to 12 that I would have loved to see in 13.

Guilty Gear Isuka was actually my introduction to the franchise. And honestly as a dumb, fuck around party fighter it was actually a good intro to the series in alot of ways. Later my friend would pick up a copy of Midnight Carnival and got to experience what proper GGXX plays like and have been a fan of the series since.

Mvci was the single greatest example the FGC has of the old saying; "you don't get a second chance to make a first impression".

Yo Mr Croft I will say you make the realest FGC videos. Like yeah you’ll make a topical recent news vid for a game release or beta, but then you’ll turn around and be like “Ranking the tastiest looking fruits in fighting games” and number 4 is like “The grapes on this rerelease SfII Championship Edition arcade stage looks great” and also jwong is on like “hmm indeed”

I would have added Capcom Fighting Jam to the list. An absolute mess of a game that look and play weird while being very barebone. Yet I don't blame the developers themselves much because the game came to be because the higher ups cancelled the game that they were developing Capcom All-Stars and basically told them "since we cancelled that project, you'll have to make a new one quickly. We're also giving you a miniscule budget for it because we lost enough already."

Basically KoF12 is like the launch version of Street Fighter V and KoF13 is like the final edition of Street Fighter V.  Those games were just made during a different era when you couldn't release an unfinished game at full price and then patch it into a finished product.  SFV would belong on this list if the launch version was the final version.

I can't believe you didn't mention the collectors edition Eggs for MVC:I

19:53 KOF12 has big sprites like Art of Fighting 1. I always thought that was an intentional reference and one of my Pros of 12 in its many pros and cons.

SFxT was the biggest fumble Capcom ever had, because the core game was actualy really good. It had one of the best combo mechanics ever made for a Street Fighter game that allowed tons of creativity and meter management options, but some brainlet at Capcom thought giving people +1000 jabs with almost no pusbbacks to a bunch of characters was somehow a good idea, while also giving the game the same clock as Street Fighter despite being a 2v2 game causing massive time outs, gems, single KO winning rounds, and more.

Biggest waste of potential, that was honestly very easy to fix, yet Capcom refused to do so.

Okay so your back back, I was just wondering where u went!

I actually liked SFxT, but they had these "auto-block" gems that would basically take the hit for you in exchange for meter. The initial ones were no big deal (it'd eat like half a bar which was significant) but later auto-block gems only took 1/5 of a bar IIRC. And there was no restriction on using them online, so you'd run into a high-ranked Dhalsim who built bar from a distance all match, so when you did finally corner them they'd just take hits until they escaped and start the whole thing over again.  I think they nerfed them eventually but I was long gone by then.

30:35 SF6 Alex stories has me traumatised so bad I thought this character was pregnant. Had me shouting at my phone screen, "not again!?" 😂
