Man, I have watched a grip of videos about this movie, but you’re the first person to point out some of the deeper themes.

Brian’s dialogue never made me feel like I was watching someone play a game. I guess because I don’t think I’ve ever actually watched someone play a game. And while I was fine with it at first be about 30mins I was kind of hoping he would stop talking all together. I know his self narration was done for the audiences sake, because current generations of movie goers have such tiny attention spans and were probably scrolling social media while watching the movie. But I think less would have definitely been more in this regard. And his constant commenting on everything happening all the time eventually took me out of the movie.

I was hoping for more Leeloo moolti-pass in this version.  Throw us a bone, producers.

I didnt see one umbrella corp logo ... then I was expecting a RPD at the end and nope

I liked it. The protagonist wasnt the best and the scientists were simpletons but I like the 'fuck you' ending

I think what hurt it the most was doing/calling it an adaptation but not adapting anything, should've been a wholey new story in-universe. The discourse would've been ridiculous all the same but I really think it would've been less so if not entirely one sided. I liked it but it did take me out whenever they'd mention Raccoon City or Umbrella cuz this movies RC is basically Christopher Nolan's Gotham City and they couldn't even have the Umbrella logo, almost like it was embarassed of the source material.

I thought watching his slow degeneration into a zombie - from begging for the cure to smashing scientists - really gripping. I wonder why he became such an abomination when others were just raging ghouls though 🤔

Funny you say the humor made this movie seem more like an Evil Dead movie considering modern Evil Dead movies have apparently made it their mission to strip Evil Dead of its humor. Maybe the two properties should swap directors.

while i absolutely loved this film, i don’t think it’s perfect, and i totally respect your take on it.  especially about the humor. for the first 2/3 of the movie it was great, but in the last 1/3 it was getting on my nerves. and while the ending seemed abrupt, after thinking about it for a while i genuinely feel like it’s appropriate

This movie is hot garbage, enough said.
