On Substack, the ideas go further than YouTube lets me take them: https://michaelbutton.substack.com/

Thanks so much for watching! ❤

This is what YouTube should be about. Educating us about real historical events. Brilliant.

another piece of the puzzle that I think nobody knows about is a crater 1 mile off the north eastern shore of the Ahu TePito Kura landmark.  It is 800 feet in diameter and in 700 feet of water.  I found this using fishing map bathymetry.  If this was an impact crater, whenever it happened it would have caused a giant tsunami to wash over the land.  The island is only 12 miles wide and not too tall.   I post this on as many Easter Island videos as I can to raise awareness.  Hopefully someone with the connections and resources can look into it more.

I allways thought that the standard story you hear about easter island is bogus. This makes more sense.

Graham Hancock indicated that Easter Island was culturally connected to South America, by way of a chain of islands over the Pacific, as sea levels were much lower back then.

It's amazing how much mainstream dismisses and condemns questions about the past (questions, not even interpretations) while the official explanation is plain ridiculous

What is interesting is the pervasiveness of learning the wrong thing.  I learned the traditional easter island narrative.  Somewhere, I read that it was really the rats that killed off the trees. (there was no mention of the drought, IIRC). Then, apparently, I totally forgot about all that and my brain went back to the original narrative. Then halfway into the video I remember the rats....

I guess it is related to the pervasiveness of "The big lie."  Even when someone knows better, the fact that the wrong narrative is so pervasive means the human brain will sometimes prefer common knowledge even when one knows better.

Anyway, thank you for reminding me of the correct narrative, and elaborating a little bit more over what I had already read.

Not too shabby. I really like the fact the statues really did "walk" down to the coast. Nice.

Human contact is fatal for islands and people from outside the local group. A story as old as time, yet wild imaginary events often circulate until scientific evidence is applied, DNA is the game changer. History is getting real, enjoyed this video. :body-green-covering-eyes::text-green-game-over::cat-orange-whistling:

About the cannibalism part, well, no ancient bones have ever been found with actual signs or cuts that indicate cannibalism happened.
The charred bones found in caves and other places around were actually cremated, ancient people didn't bury their dead.
And something no one talks about...in 1960 the was the biggest tsunami of our time in Easter Island, People tell how lobsters were walking in the land after the sea retreated ( just fun fact), but they also tell how after they found skeletons and ELONGATED SKULLS,ancient  rongo rongo tablets as well, everything was taken away, some of the rongo rongo tablets went to museums, no one talks about the elongated skulls. In our oral tradition there's a lot about the "Giants that used to walk this land".
Another fact, the ahu at anakena was opened by scientists, 7 moai , under them 7 skeletons, they were taken away an studied, they only talk and displayed  five of them , what about the other two?
Another fact, an ancient artifact was found under rocks in Anakena, about 40+ years ago, described as a " shining wheel" an object that actually emits light by itself. If anyone knows or have any idea what this could be or what it does please speak up. We don't know.is not modern, is not technology we know.
Much love from Easter Island 🗿 🏝️ ☀️ 🩷. ( Please forgive my English ,is not my mother language)

Good research, however I am suspicious of the narrative that a few thousand people carved hundreds of enormous statues and marched them haphazardly across their island. There are secrets behind the gigantic stone structures all over the globe that we may never understand.

This sudden cessation of culture and activity has been found around the globe… like something major happened that stopped everyone and everything in its tracks, turned things upside down and washed away the dates….. how many years did it take for things to recover to a level where once again humanity picked up the tools and rehabilitated those already ancient ruins 🤔

So its not a tale on the dangers of over consumption, its a tale of open borders and letting foreigners land boats on your shores uncontested...

6:16 Can you imagine... sailing past the island at a reasonable distance... and just seeing giant stone men taking a leisurely walk around the place?

Man this brings back memories, as a kid nearly 45 years ago I stumbled on a copy of Aku-Aku at my grandma's house. My grandfather had been a fan of Thor Heyerdahl's voyages and had all kinds of articles and his books. So cool that things are still being discovered and theories that once were "true" are now being contested.

When someone has something nice, ... others will always arrive and wreck it.

Was the Polynesian Rat's introduction to Rapa Nui actually an accident?  The rat shows up where ever the Polynesians did.  Once is an accident, twice is suspicious, but every island getting the same "stow away?"  I think rats were intentionally brought on the canoes as a source of protein for long voyages that could eat waste.  Then, the rat was intentionally released on new islands to be a back up food source.

The mainstream explanation for some things are more ridiculous than the conspiracy they are trying to debunk.

Slavery is terrible scar on most societies.  Figured it was related to "Guns, Germs and Steel."

I find it amazing that "scientists" create narratives based on almost no facts whatsoever. It then has the veneer of science, so it is then accepted as truth even though it is just complete speculation. So in this situation, there seems to be no evidence of chopping down all the trees in order to move the statues, no evidence of rival clans competing with each other to build that largest statues and no evidence of war between the clans over scarce resources. And yet that elaborate story becomes "the science" pretty much without question.
